Calling All UK Pelicans
Hi All,
Just wondering if any of you are planning on going to the Husbourne Crawley Porsche autojumble? It's next Saturday, and is highly recommended by all who have gone before. Might be a good chance for a UK Pelican get together! It's just off the M1 Junction 13, Opens at 9AM, and has a pub opposite! So, how about it ? Cheers, Tim. ____________ 1983 SC Targa |

Love to have gone but too far for just an autojumble!
Like the idea though - what about the 'Porches in the Park' meet at Castle Howard or the PCGB meet at Bramham as another possibility? Who knows we may even be able to do Le Mans or a factory tour next year (put that in to piss off the Yanks! )

Richard,
I'm planning to do a track day in the summer sometime. How much actual track time do you get on an evening session at Brands? I've been looking at BookATrack, they do sessions at Bentwaters (an old USA Airforce base) for £99 a day. Cheers, Tim. ____________ 1983 SC Targa |

Nor can I make it unfortunately. (also, still don't have the car back from my MFI woes!)
As for the track day, I will be doing one or two this year, and love to try Brands. I need to be careful on the noise limits though, as mine was supposedly 104dB at Goodwood last year. Cheers

Non autojumblo
Sorry Tim, can't make it. Up to my ears this weekend. Like the idea of some of the PCGB meets though. Perhaps UK PelicanHeads could meet at one of these?
On the track day front I will probably go along to the PCGB Donington event on 22 May. As a novice, I might add! I could use the "seat time" as our American friends have it. Cheers,

I went last year and was a little disappointed with the number of stalls but having said that there were some bargains to be had!!
Sadly I cant go this year as I am off to the spanish Grand Prix, shame! Marcus,I had my car noise tested at Goodwood last year and it measured at 105dB,they said I should take 2dB off for being rear engined.Great, that still leaves me 5 dB over their noise limit (doesnt sound much until you realise that a 3dB increase is actually twice as loud).Maybe their SPL meter needs to be calibrated,he says hopefully, what with living only 18 miles from Goodwood. Anyway, to any who go to the autojumble, good luck.Me personally I am going to Beaulieu on the 18th of May to try for some bargains.Might see some of you there!

Do the words Porsche and Autojumble go together these days?
The offering at Highclere was dismal, and the autojumble has been cancelled this year at Bramham. As I commenced the rejuvenation of my Carrera 3.0 last year, I was hoping to find more on offer. Suffice to say that I have ended up buying second hand bargains over the web Stateside and paying for shipping and VAT. This has worked out in most cases... Finally, can anyone recommend a good trimmer to recover my seats in leather? I am aware of SouthBound, Forest Fine, etc., but interested in any other UK based trimmers that offer good value service. tim,
its a two hour session from 5pm (£125) - they reckon 40mins actual track time. pcgb organise it so it should be sensible. i've never done one so i thought it would be a good intro for me. plus, brands in within walking distance of my house!! i always thought it would be awesome to drive around brands.£99 per day sounds great value. i don't see any vacant dates there at bentwaters. where is that btw?? geography not my strongest subject

Richard,
40 Minutes for £125!!, Sound a bit expensive to me! Mind you I've not done a track day yet, so 40 minutes may be all you need ![]() I've just spoken to BookATrack and they've had to stop running days at Bentwaters due to noise complaints from local residents! BUT They have just got access to the Lotus test track at Hethel (near Norwich), at £149 per day, so I may try that. Cheers, Tim. ____________ 1983 SC Targa |

Are cars for-sale at this autojumble, or does anyone know where I can find an early T, E or S (£15K to spend) - non impact bumper?

Phil,
No cars for sale at the autojumble, just bits and pieces!, maybe if you buy enough part's you could make your own car ![]() As far as finding a car is concerned, I'd check out the Classic car magazines and 911 & Porsche World. Also joining one of the clubs is a good way of tracking down a well looked after car. Cheers, Tim. ____________ 1983 SC Targa |

Phil
I know of both an early T and E which are well within your budget. Both are private sellers in Dorset (south coast). Drop me a mail if your interested Alan |

I'll be going on Saturday, I expect to be there at about 11am. I'm looking for a new antenna and a car bra. I'll also be at Bramham Park and the Devon and Cornwall concours, but the highlight of the year has to be Le Mans. If you wan't to meet up at any of these events post a reply and we'll see if we can arrange a get together. Chris

Hi Chris,
I'm gonna be there bright and early (around 8.30AM), to snap up all the bargains before you get there I'll probably be thinking of leaving by 11AM, but if you've got a mobile PM the number to me and I'll give you a ring.I really think it's about time us UK Pelican's got together! How about a track day or something? I'm currently trying to organise one for TIPEC (The Independant Porsche Enthusiasts Club). I'm sure this could be extended to cater for Pelicans as well !, anyone interested? (I'm looking at the Lotus test track in Norfolk, £149 for the day) Cheers, Tim. ____________ 1983 SC Targa |

Hi guys.
Since I'm still saving hard for my first Porsche..... I'm doing a trackday with my buddy in his Lotus Elise..... £89 for the day, on an airfield called Hullavington near Bedford. I DO know that airfield trackdays do work out a lot cheaper and have much bigger run-off areas - in case you decide to do a 360 spin for the spectators. Check out the link : http://www.pistonheads.com/trackdays/displayEvent.asp?id=1774 |

Hey Deeks,
Hullavington is near Chippenham in Wiltshire - I believe it is the place that Top Gear used on several occasions so please let us all know what it is like and whether you managed to replicate 'Tiff-like' 4 wheel drifts coming out of those bends! AlG; |

Will definitely get in touch after the trackday.
Should be a fun day in the Elise, especially with tweaked suspension and sports exhaust. Although I'm secretly hoping we get whooped by any Porsches there..... |

I'll be at the Wiscombe hillclimb near Exeter this weekend to watch the Porsche guys have at it. Look out for black 74 Carrera and say Hi! if anyone else shows up.
