Show Me Your Plates
Just curious what Porsche owner put on their plates.
Mine I have "NAHURRY" which, when read should be "IN A HURRY" but a lot of people think "NA...... HURRY" what do you think?

Thom, you are a first class geek.
Too bad you can't put a "\" on a plate. "su \" would be pretty funny. Tom |

I get a lot of responses from women who(1) want 'root access' and go into my home directory, although the rest of them think I'm a "0"

When I went to register the '77, "dev null" was available, but I wait(1)ed too long...
And of course, you meant "/" not "\" - or have you been assimilated by the Borg of Redmond? Quote:

OK maybe I am missing something, what is "root access"? To "root" means to act in a manner consistent to making babies, or at least attempting to. In other works "so you root?"

It's a computer joke. "root" is God on a Unix system, and "0" (zero) is it's UID (numeric user ID). I'm a sysadmin by trade, and teach it part-time @ Sac State

"root" is the super-user on a unix computer. As root, you have administrative access to the system, and can go anywhere and do anything.
"su" is the unix command to log in as a different user. "su root" would be what you type to switch to root access. In other words, Thom is a geek, and fiercely proud of it. Tom Last edited by emcon5; 04-19-2002 at 04:18 PM.. |

I'm thinking of getting "HER ZOOM" on my wife's car and "NO ZOOM" on our Surburban. Or maybe it's just me... Don

Plates as issued by Oregon. I should volunteer to give the government money? After all it steals from me without my consent? NOT ONE THIN DIME MORE THAN I AM REQUIRED TO PAY!

Hey Paul. How about "Special Interest" tags? Permanent registration for @ $40 if I remember right.

I went through a really nasty breakup with a fiance when I was living in Oregon. So I applied for a plate that I never thought they would give me. But they did. It was on a motorcycle plate, and it said "LUVSUX". My friend borrowed my bike to take his pregnant wife for a ride. They pulled up to a stoplight, and a guy in a truck pulled up next to them and said to him "Looks like you changed your mind, huh?".
Thought ya'all might get a kick out of that. |

I love US licence plate humour. Over here, we don't have the freedom to choose plates like you guys do. On my numerous visits to street rod, drag race and other hi-po-related meets in SoCal, I have come across some great ones.
My favourites are: IXLR8 WAY2FST FASRNU TOOSLO TOOFST My own 12-second VW was originally registered in CA with "CHOPPED", as it has a 3in roof chop (sadly the number lapsed and has been claimed by a street rodder) But the best of all has to be (I think) Cheryl Dunkel's "PORSCHE" – doesn't get any better than that!

For the latin scholars the motto under the reg number which isn't legible in the photo is "Dum vivimus, vivamus!" on the back plate and "Valeria Victrix" on the front plate.
