Fuel leak

I fired up the 84 Carrera yesterday and let it warm up a bit in the garage, when I backed it out I noticed an odd puddle under the front, I am used to the car marking it's territory in the back, but this was odd. It was fuel. Before I jack it up and start digging into the lines are these fuel pumps known for leaking after 28 years? I have had cardboard under it since yesterday and have seen no drops, I think it is based on it running.

Yes,..they can leak,..or from various spots under the front......I'd look closely at the lines entering/exiting the tunnel, too.

Best,

The ones in the front are leaking, but the ones on the engine are next in line!

It's time for you to do the highly entertaining 'carrera fuel line' replacement. Search the forums for lots of good ideas.

I ended up removing my lines, disassembling them and having new lines swaged from the old fittings at a local hose shop for under $100.

I searched AFTER I posted. Lots of info, looks like a line leak. I will jack it up and get busy soon. Thx

I had an intermittent fuel leak from the base of the tank near the screen. When you remove the skid plate you will be able to see many of the potential leaking areas.

My wrench was able to address a hose leak, heading into the tunnel (I believe) without having to dick around with the tunnel stuff.....we replaced evrything that could be gotten to......to include a fresh pump (removed the 23 year old pump,..yeap it was working fine, as to pressure)....inanycase,..all new stuff under that cover...

BEST!
