Cup holder new color?

I am putting in an order for some new frames and thought I might change the color. The part is not very attractive and I always thought black made it less noticeable so I am inclined to leave it black. Any thoughts?
Jerry

I'd try the color of dried coffee.

Who cares what "we" think.

The idea of a cup holder opinion post in the tech forum is far from a technical question.

Those are my thoughts, you asked.

Probably about half of the posts on the 911 forum have nothing to do with tech . . . seems like there are about as many "look at my car, helmet, key fob, vacation pics" threads as ones pertaining to tech info!

Why do people's heads explode when they see "cup holder" and "911" in the same sentence?

Its just hard for old folks like me to get used to. Like Wasser Boxer "911s". Things change. I'll get over it.

My comment wasn't directed towards you personally...just in general, as I have read other posts on the topic.

We all know that the 911 was built for driving enjoyment. But sometimes that driver enjoyment includes having a coffee after dinner with the wife while enjoying a top off cruise. I'm not sure why anyone should be castigated for wanting to enjoy their 911 the way they want to...even if that includes drinking a beverage while doing so.

Think of it this way....the 911 is a great sports car. With the addition of a $10 cup holder, the 911 transforms into a great GT car!

Yea .. thank god we have the technical in site this guy brings to the table .... I vote for throwing the thing in the trash ....

The only tech from this thread is the clear and present prethought that the factory put into these cars when they built the .... NO CUP HOLDERS .... IF you want cup holders in your car and still want to drive a Porsche .. then buy that SUV they make or the four door and use all the factory cup holders to your hearts content .. or buy a dodge caravan they advertised a few years back that they had like thirteen of them in the thing .. that would keep you happy and not worry about what color the thing is ... then you can visit the soccer mom forum and trade crochet patterns ...........

My 911 sort of has built in cupholder, the door pockets. Due to age/warpage, a commuter mug fits nice and snug in the door pocket. Though with all the twists and turns here in New England, there aren't too many times that I can drive with one hand on the wheel.

I have seen this one you have, my only concern would be what the weight of the cup will do to the lighter socket.

Just thinking out loud here but do you need that disc at the bottom? Would not bending the slender frame 90 degrees forward hold the bottom of a can/cup and make the drink holder lighter and more elegant?

You can just give me a percentage of the vast 911 cup holder profits. Thanks in advance.

I tested the cupholder with a couple pounds of bolts in a cup over several weeks with no evidence of the socket sagging or coming loose. The cupholder in the picture has been in my car for several years with no evidence of coming loose or seperating.

I looked at that design and made a prototype like it. The design would save a few pennies on the cost but does not work as well as the flat disk. You could also leave the bottom off but then the cup holder could only hold cups, no bottles or cans.

If it were me I'd paint it transparent. But then I don't favor cup holders in new cars, either. Neither do the Chinese, so as that market grows we'll see fewer cup hiolders in general.
