Talking I Am Back In Alberta

Well I am finally back in Alberta, it took us 6 days to cross the country with the UHaul, a brand new baby and 2 big big dogs. But we are here.

Most of it went well except the part where I put the UHaul in the ditch! The Porsche on the trailer behind it is fine (Thankfully) I will post pics of the accident soon.

The accident set us back 6 full hours, so basically a full day.

But hey we are all safe and thats all that matters!

Hope to see lots of you at the Roundup!

Shawn

Back in LA?? Did you get hit with that snow storm, we went from dry roads (Autocross at Race City last Thursday) to 2 ft of snow by Monday evening. It was especially fun driving the 911 home after the autocross as it started to snow half way out, and by the time I got it home it was white instead of red. Oh well, another week and it will have all melted again, and my driveway will be dried out enough to escape the garage.

Hey Shawn:
Nice to see that you're back. Just wondering if you brought back the spare parts you had from before - I may be interested in a few of them.

Regards,
Andrew M

Hey Shawn,
Glad you and yours made the trip (relatively) unscathed.
And we will surely see you at the Round-Up....as a matter of fact it looks like we'll be having quite a few long distance attendees.

Sunny Alberta?

My cars getting tired of going out for a run, in the garage, wait for snow to melt, out for a run, in the garage, waiting for the snow to melt, and so on, and so on....

Anyway....It's always nice to see another 911 on the road!

I'll wave as I fly by..

Thanks everyone.
Stealthn where are you located? I love to see others on the road too.
Andrew yes I brought any parts I had left back with me,but it might be a while before I get at them. All my stuff is stored in my garage and I am staying with my in-laws until I comletely gut and redo the house! Email me and I'll keep you posted.
Raynald yes it is too far for a weekend , but still a nice trip and now you will have people to visit.

Oh did we hit snow..... we luckily we were here when it hit Alberta, but we got snow in Montreal and in Northern Ontario too. Lots of fun in a UHaul, and to top it all off the last day we got hard winds and I could only go 70KM?hr from Brandon Manitoba to Swift Current Sask. Should have been doing 110 So the trip took a little longer than expected.

Roundup here I come!!! Anyone else from Alberta coming ??

Shawn

Shawn,
I guess that leaves only yours truly here on the East coast. Enjoy the Rockies!

Glad to hear you made it OK. See you at the round-up! Unless Noah goes, I think I'll be long distance winner.

Welcome back. I am still pondering the roundup but am unsure if my car will be ready. I am hopeful as I would like to meet some of the good folk from this board.

Cheers

Welcome back

Hey shawn,

Welcome back, my car isn't going to be ready for another month, still struggling to find time to work on her, working plenty of hours so I should be able to put her on the road for Canada Day.

Ken

Shawn,

Round-up, what round-up, why would I use a Porsche to herd cattle???

I want to check out the AutoX though, I will want to see what it's all about before I attend. Same thing with the cattle drive )

Shawn!

Glad to hear you are all OK, and home safe. I hope you were not looking in your mirror at the 911 while on the way into the ditch.

Was it a moose?

....and how did the shrink wrap work?

The autocross is a hoot, we use the south end of the road course at Race City using a cutoff to loop back, two loops around makes a BEST time of around 1:27 for the fastest guys. The only cones involved are a few at the start and then a couple to slow you down before blasting over the finish line so it's a lot higher speed the the normal cross. You'll easily get into third gear and be doing around 130kmh coming into the to the first s curve. (Thats my numbers and I'm not a fast guy out there, my best time is around 1:33)

If you just want to watch come on out.

If you want to run reserve a spot with Ken as it can fill up pretty quick and it is absolutely limited to 22 cars so everyone can get plenty of runs. It's $30 for PCA members and $35 for others (BMW club shares the cost)

You need a SA 95 or 2000 helmet and your car will be tech inspected, which basically means they make sure your battery is fastened down, none of your wheels are falling off, and your brakes work. Bring a tarp or something to stick everything in your car on/under as you don't want stuff rattling around under the hood or inside.
