Too much tranny fluid consequences?

What are the consequences for having too much tranny fluid on your 915 transmission? When I fill the tranny it's usually jacked up with the butt in the air and I fill it until I can feel the fluid with my finger down in the fill hole.

I have two 915s and they both seem to leak out of the bearing on the rear end of the tranny where it bolts up to the clutch, motor, etc.

Any input? Could it be TWO bad bearings? The leaking only really happens when it is warmed up. I figure the aluminum case is opening up and letting the tranny fluid to leak.

Any advice would be great.

BTW, with my other tranny the problem would be the fluid leaking on the clutch and it would vibrate after it warmed up. Usually after driving the car for a good 15 minutes and this would cause the clutch to slip and shudder.

My understanding is that the item indicated by the arrow is a vent, and excess pressure (or too much oil) is expelled through the hole that faces forward. You may also have some bad oil seals, not necessarily bad bearings.

that is indeed a vent and P AG wants it to face a certain angle too

do not rely on it to "expel" excess gear oil

do the gear oil changes on a flat surface -- sit some timbers under the car if no lift, or use 4 jack stands; it's not as if you are doing this every week

anyone have a dimension on the distance from the end of the guide tube to the seal on the inside of the guide tube? This is the input shaft seal. I want to make sure this seal is in the right position on my back up transmission. Anyone know this?
