Transaxel, trailing arms, and axel compatability
So, I have a 1979 SC and I'm looking for upgrade and compatibility answers. My issue with the SC aluminum trailing arms is they don't have the bearing load capability as a turbo TA with the double bearings. Is there a difference between the SC TAs and the Carrera TAs? Can Carrera TAs take the torque the Turbo TAs take?
Can I use carrera axels with the CV joints with a 915 trans and the SC trailing arms? I want a G50, but Im' wondering if I have to get new axels and new trailing arms as well. Sorry for all the questions. -P

Based on the parts catalog the SC and early Carrera's have the same TA.

That's what I thought, but someone told me the carrera arms have bigger bearings or can take more of a load. I was skeptical.
Is it possible to use the axels from a carrera with an SC trailing arm?

In case anyone else uses this thread as a reference it should be stated that Turbo arms do not fit standard 911s because the Turbo and Turbo-look use different pivot points on the torsion tube and so are of a different geometry. You can adapt the revised suspension pivots and then use the arms, but they do not bolt on.
