Running wires from engine compartment ?
Apologies in advance for a lame question (could not find answers on search)
i must run a bunch of sensor wires for a dash mounted RLC logger/tach unit and also some hot wires for a trailer hitch lighting setup to the battery up front. what is best way to run these wires thru the rear engine firewall? where is best place to drill and grommet? thiis is mostly a track car but its a slow transformation..the rear seats and all upholstery is still there etc . also the engine is in the car so the point must be reachable in that context. thanks to the brain trust.. frank |

I used a flat four wire connector and these crimps.
![]() Since I am running R tail lights I opened the cover and crimped into the brake, stop and left turn wires. I run a separate ground from the flat four TO the trailer with a quick disconnect. I run a separate wire from the right side inside the motor compartment for the right turn signal. The flat four is wrapped around my fog light assembly when not used. Probably better connectors but they have been fine for 5 years. As for sensor wires into the cabin, I use the existing grommets in the fire wall, run under the carpet up to the dash.

i had to run a ton of wires from engine compartment into the dash area. Too many to bunch under carpet and look neat.
basically I made a flat layout one wire thick. Then I used polyurethane hardware store caulk and glued everything laying upright against the tunnel waytex wire makes long strips of double skinned shrink hose if needed to wrap the wires. I bought a bunch of 4' pieces. It looks stock especially if you don't shrink it tight that bs I said, Joe Bob is always right on
