Cool oil filter numbers

Since I couldn't delet this, I've decided to make it an informational post.

I recently went through my old stock of oil filters.

I'm looking for the corresponding Porshe applications for the following numbers: I have found that all of these filters were imported from Deutchland.

Purolater PC 34/1 (Pre 9/71 911's) Euro product designation

Purolater PC 260 (I think this number is superceded
with LL30260) Euro product designation

Mann 940/29 (same as PC 260) (same as Mahle OC-54)

I would appreciate any help that you folks have.

Thanks a lot
David Duffield

Hello

Purolater PC 34/1 equals the Mann 940/1.

I think the other filters are all 2,4L on usable up to 964.

The difference between early and late filter is the thread pitch and the twist off helper on the rear.

Cool

I am also looking for the application of a Mann Filter 940/18. Is this an early model of the Mann 940/29?

Thanks for your help Roland. Happy to see you posting again!

Good luck,
David Duffield

Hello

The 940 series had seen many undervariations for other applications. Mainly the case is the same but there internals are different. I´ll try to check out 940/18

Cool

Thank you very much for your help. I suspect that it is an underversion of the 940/29. There is a valve in the bottom of the filter. I was told that there was a change in the position of the valve from the base of the filter to the bottom. This change was accomplished at the same time with the introduction of the 2.4L?

Thank you again, very much.

Hello

940/18 is a variation from the 940/29 using a 1-12 UNF. The difference is in the check valve.
It is the same version like the 940 but not with the 3/4-16 UNF Thread

The 940/18 was used in Farmer machines and Traktors and can be used as 940/29 replacment if everything else isn´t on hand
