I've been keeping my eyes open as I drive around the Morgan Hill/San Martin/Gilroy area. I know it's a long shot, but.....

PB/PG/Carmel/Salinas - 93 RSA lookout

Will keep an eye out while driving around the Monterey Peninsula & Salinas area.

Unfortunately these kinds of threads keep turning up but I can't help but wonder how this happens. Are these cars THAT easy to steal? Or are the keys left in the ignition while in the garage? I'm still in the process of building my dream machine so it's not going anywhere without the neighbors noticing but nows the time to add some sort of anti-theft device if need be.

I can only imagine your pain but would you care to share your thoughts on how you feel this may have been prevented?

Drive all around the area surrounding the shop, for a radius of about 2 miles. Every street, every ally. Many times the thiefs will park the car not far away and come back for it a few days later. This is there way of checking to see if the car has lojack. If they come back and the cars gone, no loss, they didn't get busted. If the cars still there they no there's no lojack and continue with the theft.
My heart goes out to you.

This is at least the third stolen car thread I've read since joining.

Hope you get your car back and that you get some justice!!!

I'm curious about something though... What are the thieves who steal older and more recognizable cars thinking?

I mean wouldn't most pros go after a Honda or something less conspicuous ? Are they dumb kids who haven't thought this through? Are they looking to part it out?

So they go to steal this beautiful car and drive it through the garage door? And they don't think anyone will notice the damage or that they can get it fixed without drawing someone attention?Sounds like they were either eat up with dumba$$ or as Rick James once put it "cocaine is a helluva drug."

Sorry to hear this!

A coworker was having a 300ZX fixed at a local import shop. About the same thing happened: Thieves broke into the garage, loaded up what they could into the back of the Z and drove it under the partially opened door.

They found the car a few days later in a WalMart parking lot. There was fuzzy video of the felons walking away from the car.

Damage was repairable and it's now her daily driver.

The garage kept the keys in the ignition of the cars parked inside = bad practice!

Hope the car turns up. It's stunning!

Definitely do this.

I grew up in Morgan Hill and know of two friends cars that were stolen and found sitting on the street within a mile of where they were stolen from.

I sent an email to my car buddies that live down there so they'll be on the lookout as well.

You'd be very surprised at how common a practice that is, many shops that do take the keys out, don't lock them away either

I hope you work very diligentlly to find the #*the^uckers who got your car.
I'm in the Bay Area as well, if you find them, let's have some fun. Get the
bastards, let them loose in a remote area(I know of one) and have my dogs
find their asses to tear them up..now that's fun.
We're ready..anytime..anyplace..anybody..

I have had no word on the car from the police. Thanks for everyone's support. The Porsche community is great!
