I'm sure I'm not the only one up here who has noticed the influx of more Nascar programming lately on Speedvision. Tonight they were hosting a Fox Sports Net broadcast of a Nascar program, and I've already seen many more Nascar additions to the lineup, including weekly "Totally Nascar" and a couple of others I can't remember the names of.
I'm starting to get paranoid this stuff is going to edge out broadcast space for my Formula 1, GT, ALMS, etc. OH DEAR! ------------------ Adam Nitti ajnitti@mindspring.com www.adamnitti.com '85 911 Carrera Coupe PCA member, Peachstate region |

Yeah, I noticed that too. Did they ever see the petition? I'm keepin' my eye on those Fox bastards. The minute it goes to "all NASCAR, all the time", I'm gonna cut 'em loose from my cable. A promise, not a threat!

I agree...I was hoping to see Motorsport Mundial but theres some Nascar call in show. I immediately sent them an email explaining I have NO interest whatsoever in Nascar.

Check out Bill Oursler's column (Porschesport, pages 56 - 58) in the August Panorama...

I caught a bit of a NASCAR race the other day.
The most interesting thing they had to talk about was a rag that was lying on the track; how did it get there, arnt they clever for avoiding it, and even can they use it to advantange. unbelievable. It was so bad I was laughing. Alex. |

Yea, but did you see the Safari WRC rally last night on Speedvision?
Tommi and the guys have to be the best drivers in the world - bar none. Those guys are unbelievable in unbelievable conditions. NASCAR smashcar - they can't hold a candle to these guys. I wish Speedvision would show more WRC and forget about NASCAR. Jeb Sorry - I forgot the Porsche content- why doesn't Porsche field a WRC team. The Group B cars of years ago kicked butt and got alot of press. Why don't more legitimate racing programs compete in this series? |

Does any one know a way to get the uk ITV coverage of F1 over in the US. I live over there now and the coverage is so much better than speedvision. It's no wonder people don't get into F1 in the US as bad as the coverage is.

more NASCAR coverage won't take away from coverage of road racing. i think what it will do is eliminate some infomercials and stuff. NASCAR owns a big stake of Grand-Am, so i know that we can still see Porsches racing there.
i am noticing more "stock car" stuff though. on the same token i'm seeing more drag racing on ESPN2... not that i care for drag racing, just that i'm noticing that it's scheduled on a bit more often than in the past. obin |

Oh God please don't take my "Legends of Motorsport". What would I do if I couldn't see Alan DeCadenay's wig?

Speedvision is pretty much stuck with the feed they receive for F1. It all depends on the country that the race is in.

It's true - Speedvision is stuck with the feed they get from Bernie Ecclsetone's organization.
The point is that there's nothing wrong with the pictures - it's the commnetary and the number of commercials that's so bad on Speedvision. The Speedvision commentary team can't hold a candle to Murray Walker and Martin Brundle. Of course when the BBC carried F1 in the UK you got Murray, Martin and NO COMMERCIALS either!!!!!! Doug |

I've never seen the BBC F1 telecast but I'll take the Speedvision telecast any day! I didn't know about the Fox deal until I saw it on the post and read it in Pano, hope Fox doesn't F-up Speedvision showing F1, like relegating it to replays in the early morning hours, or not even showing it at all.

I thought I would throw some fuel on the fire - I signed the petition and have never been a fan of NASCAR, but anybody who watched the race on Sunday and thought it wasn't interesting has not driven the Glen. Two or three abreast going into the bus stop or the esses. It gave me a new perspective on what the line really could be. I wish they would use the full course though. Their nudging and bumping antics look somewhat similar to a Super Cup race.
