Spark plug threads

Is applying anti-seize on spark plug threads a good idea?

Just read somewhere on this forum yesterday that Porsche advised against it as it reduces conductivity thus decreasing the spark.
Personally I never use anti-seize on spark plugs, but it is a matter of personal preference.

I use just a little Permatex Hi-temp copper-based anti-seize. Easy-peasy. Have noticed no ill effects on ignition. But I can see how that might be an issue if you use too much. Then again, copper's a pretty good electrical conductor . . . .

I use anti-seize on the threads but a miniscule amount. I've been doing it for many, many years on all the cars, including the 911s.

I GUARANTEE that if you use too much, the plug won't spark. Been there, done that.

Interesting comment in this month's Panorama Tech section. Guy having trouble getting a plug out and the moderator sez........use a bit of anti seize next time.

You do not use anti-seize due to the plating on the spark plug threads.

I used a dab of copper antisieze last change; 27mpg on the hwy and not a blip to rev limiter. I won't see those suckers again until 180,000 miles but I reckon they'll come out.

The Porsche owners manual also says change the oil every 12,000 (or 15,000) miles and CASIS says shift at 2100rpm. I change (and shift) at 3,000. Lotsa choices.
