Salut!

Did not Porsche switch to the uniform/smooth door lock (I don't know when) due to the ease of theft with the earlier locks that looked like this?

Maybe I'm thinking of a different car make.

Put in an old Personal wheel that I'm giving a try for a few days and tried something different instead of a horn button.

In preparation for the winter blizzard here in New Jersey, I got out my generator. I needed to move my 911 out of the garage. I decided to stretch her legs a little in the new fallen snow (less than an inch...about 1 cm at this point). She started right up and ran like a dream.

Related, yesterday I did something to move toward the dream of being able to work on her in all weather. Looked at a house with garage space for at least 6 cars...one fully heated and airconditioned. Keep your fingers crossed, if all works out I'll be posting development of a garage that makes all envious...(in a non-"7 deadly sin" kind of way).

You'll need to change your screen name.

If you haven't already, check out the Garage Journal for renovation/development info. Many very talented garage lovers over there.

They probably did... I think 964's are straight shaped - but they don't look as good ! I might just do a version with a flashing led on top...

Another stellar day in the Puget Sound so I washed the 911 and then put 50 more miles on her. Mainly freeway, mainly above 3,000 rpm. Let her eat.

Is that knob the one sold by PP?

Yes, with model year 1977 it changed to a straight design to improve security.

Talking New engine mounts

Last night I replaced my solid engine mounts with club sport/cab type from our host. Replaced all the hardware too. Wanted to take some of the strain off the motor since it is not a track car anymore. Was one of the easiest things I've done. I made sure that the engine was well supported then did one at a time. Everything lined up perfect the first time. I'm going to owe the repair gods big time on my next repair.
Initial impression is that some of the vibration has been reduced and no difference with shift quality.

I left the transmission mounts solid for now.

That's what I remember reading in a 911 book. Thanks for the clarification!

Took the wife out for our first date night in the 911SC. She loves it.

(if you have been following my project thread you'll realize that's kind of a big deal.)
