Not a fun day. Out for a drive in 72S/3.2 when engine started missing...few miles later on side of road. Towed to shop. My guess fuel pump or faulty relay. Only 2nd time in 18 years tho so I've been lucky.

I'm car sitting for a friend, so I made room in the garage for another one. They are almost twins.

Finished up the trailing arm rebuild and wheel stud install. Also installed new rear torsion bars (Sway a way 26mm) and adjustable spring plates. Project Olly is coming along.

My nd a transmission oil change is due, and once every spring brake fluid change. The transmission oil gets changed after two track days and numerous autocrosses. I am planning a 4,000+ mile road tip this summer in my 85 911 as well. So I will be going over the car bum[er to bumper to check everything is working as designed or better than designed. I have the Griffith's 4 condenser and hurricane blower system so the AC works great. I always like to be sure it is fully functional before a trip, and as soon as the weather gets hot I can make sure the AC still blows cold.

Well I finished my oil change and valve adjust. I purchased that cool little tool sold by our host to adjust your valve, BUT. Doing it on the car requires three small hands. Soo I just used it as a guide to screw in till it touches the valve and then back out (like from 3 o'clock to 2 o'clock) and that worked fine. Easier than the feeler gage routine.

I love my Porsche, I've had her for over 20 years. 248,000 miles, BUT I hate trying to get the plug lead onto the spark plug. What a pain.

Anyway the test drive up my test road was good. She still runs like a scared rabbit (245hp twin plug 3.0L). One last check with the timing light today and if I can afford some gas maybe a run out for lunch.

I drove it for the first time in 8 months. I was happy that the new tires eliminated the slight vibration I was getting. Bone stock '87 and it's always a blast.

Sorry, it's just the first time I've seen the combo "in the wild", so to speak, and it's one of those things I hope to put on my car soon. I'd love to cement it in my mind as a "Must buy" instead of a "One day".

Tried some Ceriglass on the windshield. Windshield wiper marks are gone but the fine pitting I had hoped to remove is still there. I spent about 4 hours on the car. I probably could have removed the existing windshield and installed a new on faster! Oh well, it was worth the experiment.

Front pan extension

Extended my front suspension cover by welding 3 inches onto the front of the pan.

The stock cover was too short to sit completely flush against the 85 liter tank on my longhood. It didn't cover the fuel pump / master cylinder cavity well enough . The modified one works well.

Yes, it’s the rothsport (hub and QR) I drilled the center for the horn wire to pass through. I also have a 1/4” spacer so that the horn button sits flush. Still working on getting the turn signal to cancel, and a horn wire disconnect. The wheel is in a much better spot than with the momo hub.

There is another thread here where someone had done a lot of work getting the horn to pass through.

What else did you use to eliminate wiper marks? I have a wiper scratch that I've had for many years.

Door stop repair from our host. Took longer than expected as the inside plate fell into the door well and took awhile to get it back out. Tip: tie string to the plate
