Fought for an hour to get one of the rocker panel trim strips back on. Decided to leave the other for tomorrow. Those things are a b*$#@! to replace...

fanaudical:

Use a lot of rubber lube and push it on. It is tough, but with enough lube it goes on reasonably.

Dish soap and sliding it in works for me. Had it off and on a few times before we ditched the rocker covers all together.

THIS.

I drowned the channel and the rubber with PB Blaster, it literally slipped on in seconds.

Too much rain in Mississippi. I'm thinking about building an ark to put Imogene in and float her around the yard. Going on two weeks since I've driven her and this is June when it is usually dry here. Rain, rain go away...

Am leaving soon to enter my car in the "Garden City River Rod Run" which is held in Cara Park in Missoula, MT. There will be about 200 cars there and, while it's a Ford Mustang/Model A &T thing, my car will add some Germanic class to the event. A parade through downtown Missoula tonight and a showing tomorrow as well. Only concern is for predicted thundershowers. Wish me luck!!

I installed the new decklid to body seal I ordered from Pelican. I also bought some speed nuts so I can remove and repaint the "911SC" emblem.

Still waiting for my new steel open end lugnuts to arrive, though.

I ordered a couple Pelican tshirts but they are out of stock.????

Did you do this yourself?

Did you sandblast off the old enamel?

I'm going with a gray/back theme to match my black hood.

Today I plan on replacing the spark plugs, rotor and distributor cap, then return an old battery to the store for the core money.

Then if it doesn't get too hot, wet sand down my hood with 400, 600, 800, 1,000, 1,200, 1,800 sand paper, and buff/polish.

If the metal store on Industrial road is open I might finally pick up my battery box supplies, a task which keeps getting delayed.

EDIT:
All I did today was wet sand my black hood. It didn't go so well, took too much off, the base paint just was too rough and uneven and could not be saved. Pity as the primer went on perfect last month. I'm rethinking all my options at the moment over a beer.

George,
I simply scuffed the surface with a scotchbrite pad. I used wax/grease remover and then painted it with Dupli-Color black trim paint. I painted it last night and let dry overnight. While I had it off I cleaned the crud off the deck where the emblem goes.

Just returned from the "River City Rod Run" after two days in Missoula. About two hundred cars, but only my Porsche and a 1961 Austin-Healey Sprite in the foreign car category. Lots of oohs and ahhs over my car and the Healey too, but no cigars from the judges who were impressed by old Detroit iron and un-muffled exhaust noise. To heck with them! I'll seek more refined and dignified company next time!!

Finally got my transmission back and in the car. Took her to the track at Portland yesterday. Transmission shifted a little stiff at first and then got better and better. We had rain and sun all day. My first in the rain. Enough of that, tip toeing around and I still spun, once in the first session and again the same spot in the second session.

Went to pick up sushi. I know that sounds lame but the rest of you family guys know that any excuse to get behind the wheel of the P-car is worth the effort!
