A couple of weeks ago, my alternator light came on a few times, so I immediately drove home and checked the voltage on the system and it was low. So I had the alternator rebuilt at a local place and, since I had it out, I got the fan and housing powder coated.

The downside was I asked them to make the fan black and the housing silver, to mimic the Fuchs.

On the upside, when I get there, they realized their mistake and gave it to me for free!

I have to say, getting that thing back in there was a PITA. They could have raised the thing 1/4" and avoided the overlap with the pulley on the bottom and it would have been way easier.

Bugs, I know you we're thinking about my issue.

And I am very excited to report that it is fixed. It pays to have very smart friends because for a 12-pack of Bud Light and $23, my buddy rebuilt my CDI box. The capacitor and a couple other little things that make me nervous to look at were faulty. Looked like brain surgery to me, seemed to be no sweat to him.

Plugged it back in, car fired up after sitting 2 months like I drove it the day before. It was 60 and sunny in CT yesterday so I took it for a proper 35-minute trashing.

All becomes clear!

I replaced the stress-cracked polycarbonate Driver's side Targa vent glass with a genuine glass replacement items from SWS911. The replacement was a little tricky with understanding how to dismantle the catch and the small pin that holds it together. Once I realised what I needed to do it took 30minutes.

I have to say SWS911 was a great person to deal with. The glass was well packaged and exactly as described.

This was the polycarbonate I removed - note the stress cracks. It has annoyed me for a while as it is not as clear as glass and you can see the cracks quite easily

Next you can see the end result

Cheers, Neil

Hi Leah,
Your wheels look great. Do you have a sense of how difficult it is to remove the coating, if or when it needs replacement?
Thanks,
Dave

Removed the front seats. The plan is to 1) get seats fixed 2) clean up the floor and interior.

Dave, the little bit of overspray I had was easy to remove. In fact, I pulled the tape while it was still slightly wet so I didn't inadvertently pull the whole thing off. The little places where my masking off wasn't the best were easy to kind of smudge off. We will see how long it lasts.

Drove her to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. Headed home on A81 and took a nice rock to the windscreen! Nice impact mark and a six-inch crack. Looks like new windshield time!

Looked at the accumulated dust and dirt on her and shrugged because it was 28*. Another day.
