I know it's not on a Porsche, but I did plasti dip graphics on my 79 mini clubman last year for 4th of July. It was great fun and peeled right off at the end of the day. I could have easily left it on for longer without any loss of quality. Home depot sells the four color kit and it thins with Naptha so I was able to shoot it through my airbrush. I love this stuff!!

Was replacing these wheels and wanted an all black look. Could use another coat, but not bad for $18.00. . The car is a daily driver so I'm not too worried if the wheels don't look perfect. After a decade, just want a new look.

Removed each wheel
Placed index cards on the outer part of the wheel to prevent overspray on tires
Sprayed the Plasti-dip
3 Cans, 3 coats

Tried spraying the Plasti-dip with the wheels on the car but missed a bunch of spots. Also, if the overspray gets on the tire, when you peel off the excess plasti-dip the finish is prone to peel off the wheel (Ask me how I know)

Hi,
I am resurrecting an old thread and I have noticed that Plasti-dip is now available in other colours in the rattle can.
Has anyone tried to coat Fuchs wheels with the classic/original pattern, that is, coloured center and anodized rim. I have a white car and was considering seeing what a gold plasti-dip centre looks like, but I want to retain the anodized rim. My concern is the plasti-dip peeling off when you remove the masking tape.
Any thoughts, experience or tips?

Thanks in advance
Ray

The tape needs to be removed before the plastidip has a chance to dry. So you need to lay down a single coat heavy enough for coverage but not so much it drips, or use multiple coats and re-mask between each. This is the only pic I have handy of my car with vintage gold wheels.

Hey Froggert,
Thanks for the fast reply, and the tip, that makes sense now, I will give it a go, nothing ventured, nothing gained!! Afterall, it is reversible :-)

Your car looks great, and you did a great job on the wheels, is that the plasti-dip gold?

Cheers
Ray

How about doing the battery box with it, or would a bed liner spray be better?

Not a good idea for the battery box...it is not a durable finish in that sense of the word. It will offer no corrosion resistance.

I dipped my targa bar. Nice mat black look. Only took a couple of hours. The car has seen about 4k miles and still looks great.
