When you see a Singer you can tell it is a very special car from 100 yards away. They are very well done but I am not their customer.

There are plenty of cars on the market that cost way over $500K, and none of them are a "good investment" if you actually drive them. Some toys just cost more than others. If that kind of money is chump change to you, and you like the car, go for it.
I'd rather have a Singer than a lot of other boutique cars that break down a lot and take forever to fix, etc. There is, for some people, a certain comfort in flying under the radar and it is easier to do with a Singer than it is with a Ferrari, or similar. It's all relative.

yes the price is just bonkerz but id take one in an instant over say a red and yellow ferrari enzo that costs over a mil. Its the kind of thing that if you charge more it just makes it more appealing and exclusive. for billionare supecar kind of people

If I could afford it I would have one without question or hesitation.

It is a little too much for me, but I'm sure the Singer will find customers standing in line to pay full price for it.
You can build a 911 that is about 90% of the Singer for less than 30% of the price - I'm thinking a backdate with all the candy - 73 RS replica paint, trim and interior, and all the suspension and engine goodies. Full house, done right, probably 80K, right ? Now you won't get the carbon body, the Cosworth motor, and the custom trim, but those are not worth the additional 150K to me at least. It's a wonderful vision, car, and I'm sure a great experience - but a little over the top for me at least. I'd build one.

If I had Bill Gates' money, then this car would be couch-cushion money, and I wouldn't even notice. But as a 3.2 guy, I would rather have a 3.2 body stuff with a 3.6TT motor, all the goodies that make the suspension great, and have it look, outwardly, like a 3.2 car. It would be fast and handle well, and I'd have TONS of cash left over to make sure it stayed fast and continued to handle well for decades.
The Singer car is excellent, but just not my kind of excellent. |

The Singer is my Megamillions car. I love it and it would definitely be in my garage if/when I hit the big one.

Our discussions here are pretty much one sided: This board, myself included, is not in the demographic that Singer is targeting.
If you have a SLS, a Gallardo Superleggera, and 458 Italia in the garage and your daily driver is a amg63 then you need to fill out your collection with a Singer After all the new 991 GT2 won't be available for a couple years and this Singer stands out from the cookie cutter crowd of current day exotics. <<< THIS is the attitude of the Singer buyer. He/She has beaucoup bucks and wants a more involving car that does not risk life and limb at the speeds the other exotics must achieve to get your jollies.

Why do so many focus on the depreciation of a car? When I bought mine the last thing I thought about was how much it would be worth down the road. I bought it because it was my childhood dream car. I bought it because I love it. It has nothing to do with value. I don't care if tomorrow my car drops to a value of $1000, it doesn't make me love it any less. So $400,000 for a car? If you love it enough and can afford it then it's worth it.

I appreciate the Singer for what it is but understand that most of us on this forum are not the target demographic for sales of that car.
Anyone that buys it is obviously buying it because they see it as a work of art in engineering rather than a car, it's no different from the guy plunking money into any other exotic super car (which they probably already also own). What they're paying for is exclusivity that their money (smart investment or not) affords them. Given that fact that we're all here reading, I'm sure most of us would go the Magnus route instead of the Singer route, both beautiful works of passion. One is unattainable to us, the other is. Their advertising slogan is ready... Singer, na-na-na-na-na you can't get one. Last edited by McLaren-TAG; 02-01-2013 at 01:49 PM.. |

It's funny reading
"I can build it cheaper" The car is actually underpriced, a smart buyer would buy one quick before the price goes up again Last edited by Blackbyrd; 02-01-2013 at 02:16 PM.. |

Yes if I had F You money, otherwise I would add a garage $100k and fill it with the choice of 4 classic P cars with a Viper Green Classic as a DD.

It's a steal compared to something like this:

The Singer is being presented to a limited audience in London tomorrow night. I cannot afford one, but I'm more excited to see this car than I have been about any new car launch in recent times.
I'm lucky enough to have an ex-Magnus Walker 1966 SWB that probably cost more than many would've paid - but I fell for it, and have already been offered £20k more than I paid for it. No way I'm selling though. My point is, a car of this type is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Chris Harris loves it and he knows his 911s... And I can't wait until tomorrow night!

The Singer is OK. $300+ for a 991 here- if you can afford the depreciation etc, well it's your money !
