Hey RarlyL8,

That looks nice. Could post more pics of your car or do you have a link to more pics?

Thanks,

There's a Strosek style rear bumper that BW Motorsports sells that I'm seriously considering.

It has two horizontal slits that sits just above the two exhaust tip outlets. It's designed to vent heat generated by the exhaust/muffler out of the engine bay.

There's also a slit between the bumper and rear reflective lense for added ventilation.

Anyone have a pic of this on a car?

The only problem fitting this type of bumper is that it requires shortening of the bumper shocks

OK.

Who's car is this:
[IMG]http://forums.pelicanparts.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=492016[/IMG

And where did you purchase the components from and where can I get the components from. This is the direction that I have been wanting to take my 1983 930.

Thanks,

Brian]

Nice shot

BTW, did you have to shorten your bumper shocks to fit that style bumper, OR did you remove the bumper shocks altogether?

I like the Strosek look, but I may be a little biased...

I put the SC on a pretty good diet.
The car was originally ordered with all the delete items. No power nothing, no A/C, and no sunroof.
All the fron and rear hardware have been removed -all of it. No bumper shocks or supports or sheild or any kind of related crap. The weight savings was maximized.

Safety? Have you ever seen a motorcycle with bumpers?

Thanks RarlyL8.

I'm seriously considering such a conversion (i.e: lightweight front & rear bumpers/side rockers & engine lid & tail).

Hmmm - I wonder how much weight can be shed by doing that?!?

i want a porsche that looks different, and here's what i came up with....

the base: 959 body (very wide)

put custom lights on (maybe a more porsche looking version of the latest 996 headlights)

at the front, style the bumper like the 996 twin turbo,

lower the windshield to a more slanted angle, remove the roof, put on a very low version of the old style targa top, the rear lights all red, nice big rims,

a nice paint job....

maybe thats just my personal preference (low & wide)

most 911 owners will probally see this as vandalism or worse, but i think it would make a very good looking, modern old school porsche

thoughts????(don't say i'm crazy....)

Remember - you asked for it.

You're gonna endup with a freakshow that is unsellable e-bay fodder.
It's an old addage that a modified car usually ends up worth less than its unmodified counterpart. Porsches are not immune from this phenomenon.
My car is a case-in-point. The one you are dreaming up is even more extreme.

By the way - how do you plan to supercharge AND turbocharge the engine? I'd like to know more about that concept.

i have money, and i'm young....the car is for me, and i do not car about the resale value....

it will look good, it will look different, and it will be mine

(the rear 959 decklid will be replaced and the lights removed, and will have a 911 slant at the back....just much wider)

(the front will look like an extremely wide 993, i.e. the front bumper will be modified...)

as you can see i like 993s...to me they are the last of the true 911s....(996s don't have that 'porsche' look)

so why don't i just get a 993??? it weights to much and i would have to upgrade the suspension anyway...

the car is a stripped out 1971 chassis, custom suspension, 996tt brakes, and hollinger gearbox (i like to drag as well)

lowered roof, i.e. more like a 993 gt1 roof

the twincharge system will be hell to get working perfectly (is there such thing when it comes to engines??)

but it has been done a few times on other cars....HKS released a twincharge kit for the mr2, giving it around 300hp, not much but thats still about 100 more than normal, and lag would have been nearly non-existant.....i'm assuming most people don't do it is due to a comlpicated and complex not to mension sensitive setup...

when it's finished i'll let you know how it goes....

Personally, I think J959 is insane.(or extremely ambitious)
If he wants to throw his money away I say go for it!
Everyone with a custom 911 throws it away to some degree.
People have suggested that I ruined my car. I have a different point of view, as J959 probably has a different point of view from me. If it makes you happy then by all means BE HAPPY!
