CA Heritage Plate Orders are Lagging

The DMV started accepting the $50 deposits in January of this year. There must be 7,500 orders received by 31 December 2014 (for each plate) to go into production. Currently, only the Gold on Black plate is on track to reach this threshold.

1) Black on Gold (1956 thru 1962)
1 July = 1,097
1 August = 1,213
1 Sept = 1,275

2) Gold on Black (1963 thru 1969)
1 July = 3,674
1 August = 4,224
1 Sept = 4,474

3) Gold on Blue (1970 thru 1983)
1 July = 805
1 August = 901
1 Sept = 948

We know that the Heritage plates are not exact reproductions of the originals. Among the differences, the Heritage plates will be, by law, reflectorized. That being said, keep getting the word out. The order form is available at dmv.ca.gov/Heritage Plate/Apply Here. The vintage plate will cost $40 extra per year.
