Things you find in a car
I didn't see a thread like this and I'm sure we can get some great responses.
I took off the drivers seat yesterday and found an old, rusty shotgun shell waiting to cook off. Also found: In the past I've found those spring loaded ejector pins from the seat backs, golf tees, penny from year of the car-(still in there), fuses and those red straws from a spray can of WD40 or carb cleaner? Also an ancient radar detector module the size of an in dash radio stuck next to the front AC evaporator. Mostly expected stuff. But after my neighbor came over and I showed him the shotgun shell, he told me about an 80's Euro M5 he owned and tore the dash out of and found a hard block of white powder. There are so many little corners it's like a lost and found, I'm sure there are a ton of stories, what have others found in their cars?

I was in the car business for 25 years and people have left all kinds of things in their trade-ins. Money, alcohol, drugs (cocaine and marijuana), hand guns, dirty diapers (really), radar detectors, clothing, you name it. One of the best stories was in my early days at a VW-Porsche-Audi store. A customer returned with his new US made Rabbit complaining of a rattle. After a couple visits without success a mechanic began taking bigger stuff apart. Finally after removing the dashboard he found the source of the noise. A Coke bottle stuffed into the structure under the dash!
At the M-B dealership the mechanics found German food wrappers under the rear seats of a newly sold car when it was brought back for an unrelated issue.

I'm thinking that hard block of white powder could've paid for that car, and then some.

Nothing out of the ordinary for me... A lighter, a pen, some coins (technically I got a 75 cent rebate on my purchase.)

Found a meter...a nice one at the time...under the seat...still have it.
Also have found ammo (45 cal)...a flare (that was actually a stick of dynamite!)...and various tools. The dynamite shook me up a bit...and when we fired it...it was very active! Bob

Well, in 1973, my 912's smugglers box came in very handy one day.
'Nuff said.

i guess it would pay to spend some time cleaning any car that you get front to back, becaused if you are pulled over with contraband (a couple of seeds perhaps) in the car, you could get into a lot of legal trouble.

A friend of mine bought a 930 20 years ago. He bought it from the federal government in a auction. It was a drug dealers confiscated car. He felt sure the feds would inspect the car throughly and retrieve any contraband. After he had owned it for a while we was doing some maintenance and discovered several gold Krugerrands well hidden. He keeps forgetting to call the feds and turn them in.

"time to musk up.."
Oh man.. glad I can share my finds... right after I bought my car, I went through it sort of hoping I would find a stack of 100's or something under the seat. No such luck. Of course I did find hundreds of dollars worth of things I should fix!
Anyway, in the course of looking through the car, under the drivers seat I found a bottle of "Jovan White Musk" Anyone have any experience with this? I am too young, but my guess is that it was the cheapest cologne you could get back in the day. Its been under that seat for many years, and the smell of it can best be described by watching the "Sex Panther" cologne scene in Anchorman... Under the passengers seat: Chanel makeup compact. Of course. Center console: Cassette tape case.. Bon Jovi New Jersey Pretty classic stuff and it really gave me a feel for my Porsche's prior life.. of course I have to save them as my car's protective charms.

First Alert Kitchen Fire Extinguisher with Quick-Release Mounting Cap for Cooking and Electrical Fires I'd probably throw it at an engine fire and run! Reminds me "I really need to get an extinquisher"

years ago bought a Ford truck with a camper from a guy who was a boyscout adult leader. Low miles and "only used for Jamborees"
In a small compartment was a Crack Pipe, a baggie with crack, and the oddest thing a tampon ???
