Bridgestone Potenza RE-11

Anyone using these tires?

Any feedback?

Not much else available in 245/45/16.

Thanks,

Dan

I hope they're OK, because I have a set on the way.

A search ought to turn up some opinions. The RE-11 has been about the only thing going in 245/45 for a while now. I've got about 10k miles on a set on my daily driver 86. I'm very happy with the RE-11s and would buy another set in a heartbeat. Great traction, quiet ride, work well in the rain. Suprising tread wear. They balanced out with very little weight. -J

I'm using them for DEs, 205s front and 245s rear. Very nice.

Excellent tire

I have 3 DEs (and about 1500 street miles) on a set of 205/245 RE-11s. Excellent grip and very predictable. Wear pattern so far is very good. This includes 1 session in heavy rain and 1 on a wet track.

Can't comment yet on longevity, but so far I'm very happy with them.

BTW, I have RE-11 on the rear and RE-11A on the front (all that was available) and have no issues with that.

Is there any real benefit going to a 245/45 rear?

I've read on this forum that the 245/45 and 205/55 is not the ideal combination of front rear tire for AX. The explanation was that the ratio needed to be something within a specific range and that for a 245/45 rear you needed a 225/50 front and all the complexities of fitting that sized tire in the front that go along with it.

Hopefully someone knowledgeable on the topic will chime in. So far I've been able to get good feel on my 225/50 rears and 205/55 fronts, but I don't have anything else to compare it to.

New tires are on my radar for next year, so I would like to know if there is indeed real world benefit in going to a 245/45 rear, without also going to a 225/50 front. My primary goal is maximum AX performance on a non R compound tire/size combo.

I rebuilt my entire suspension and put the old (8+ years) BF Goodrich tires (7"/9") onto the car and full alignment. Car was tight, no squeaks, good effort.

Nail forced new tires, Potenzas as you've asked about. Freaking Amazing. NOW I know what a fresh suspension feels like. Car is so much more supple, has reliable and predictable sideways movement, and grips like monkey glue.

Can't recommend these highly enough. Sorry the price is so dear.

I've had 225s and 245s (RE-11s)for a while now and I'm very happy with them; wearing nicely, were great in South Florida rains, great dry grip. I actually have a spare set of 245s in my garage just in case they stop being available (again)!

Two thumbs up on the re 11's. I have 3000 miles and 4 de's on them. Great traction including in the rain. Not sure about wear yet.

Just bought a set. One tire had to be returned could not be balanced. Immediately replaced by TRack. Will let you know how they ride.

Dan, do a search on the board here. Lot's of threads on that tire. They are an axcellent choice for street and probably the best choice for a dual purpose (street/track) tire if you either don't want to go with or are not ready yet for a DOT-R tire.

The instant I heard that RE-11s were available in 245/45s I ordered a set (205's & 245s), and they have been great tires, especially here in no-rain, rough back roads, CA. I look forward to the new version in a year or two.

Yes, 225s in the front on 16s and 245s on 16s in the rear. The PO had rolled the front lips, so no problems at all with fit.

Went through a set of RE11's on my 84 Carrera. 15,000 miles!
I now have the RE-11 A's. A little stickier and better ride than the RE-11:s, which were fantastic themselves. Used stock sizes.
