Anyone using 951 fuchs on a narrow body 911?
Ran into a nice set of original 951 fuchs, 16x7 and 16x8. I have read numerous posts about the wheels and the differences ie 1/2 less projection to the exterior on the 8". Has anyone been able to run this set up on a narrow body 911. Photos would be great.

This is not my car but this guy posts on the forum and he has 951 8x16 on the rear of his '75. I believe he is running 225/45/16 tires.
I know he has posted on the mid-year thread so you might search there. ![]() |

My set needs new tires, I am trying to see if I can make them work on my 70T. I have read that the fronts are no problem with 205/55 x 16 tires. Would like to be able to run 225x50 on the rear. I have RE-11's on my 6 and 7x16 fuchs with are on my SC and really like the tires.

The Fuchs 951 and 911 16x7 wheels have the same offset/back spacing. They look different because the spokes are further outboard on the 951 wheel, however, the wheel mounting face is in the same position for both wheel types.
If you use the search feature you will find that getting the 16x7 to fit on the back with a 205-55-16 will be iffy. It's very unlikely the 16x8 will fit with the big tire you specified. Again this all applies to a long hood narrow body car. I'm doing a bare tub build on a '71 and will run 16x7 951 wheels on all four corners with 205-55-16 tires. Fender lips will be rolled and lots of negative camber in the rear to make this combination fit. I would suggest selling the 16x8 951 wheels, since they bring a price premium and then find another pair of 16x7 951 wheels, so you end up with a full set. |

Here is my fit: 225 on 8" Fuchs on the narrow-bodied 74. Minimal rubbing but who cares...

Grinding back the inner wheel well lip helped a lot.

16x8 951 wheels on a long hood narrow body
Here's what the 951 16x8 wheels look like as a test fit on the back of my '71 long hood narrow body car. These had the 225x50 tires. Not a look that I wanted to live with.

Adding some negative camber goes a LONG way toward improving that look. Just my opinion/matter of taste of course.... Only reason I responded is because I have some recent firsthand experience with this. Re-worked the rear suspension on my '87 street car with a return to rubber bushings, stock torsion bars and typical 16x8 rear wheels. One side I forgot to mark the alignment bolts to get it back in a ballpark close position before realigning it. Well that side is all whacked out and what a visual difference it makes between having a large amount of negative camber on one side and virtually none. Not to mention I cut the tire on the fender lip backing out of the driveway........ ![]()

Just swapped out my 6 and 7 x 15 Fuchs that ran 205/60 and 215/60-15. Floor to lip all around just about 25". New 951 7 and 8 x 16 with 205/50 and 215/50-16 Dunlops installed. Not as period correct, but I'm digging the look. No rubbing. Planning a slight drop to 24.5 all around to complete the stance and really eyeing a ducktail. Getting the bug again after owning this car for it's entire 39 year life, recently resurrected from over 10 years of storage. 3.0 L Sc motor swapped a long time ago.
