Metal Pop-Off Valve

I noticed that all of the Pop-Off Valves I see in catalogs and on cars are made of plastic or a nylon type material. My car seems to have somthing different it's made of metal and I was wondering if this is a good or bad thing? I'm also not realy sure if it works or not since I've never heard my car "POP". All comments would be appreciated.

Are you sure that's not the Flux Capacitor??

Serious looking, high dollar, auto resetting pop off valve. Looks like the airbox has to come out for installation.

I don't have a lot of knowledge about years other than mine but I have never seen an air box that looked like that. All the pictures of CSI boxes I've seen have the ribs in them.

It looks cool. Knowing nothing about it I would put more faith in your pop-off valve than mine based on looks.

Somebody loved this car right. Check out the fan color and note the color-matched zip ties for the plug wires.

Also, with the two screws to the right of your second pic? If you can get a fingernail under these it usually means the airbox is blown. At least that is what I was learned some time back.

SCWDP,
John

That pop off valve was part of an aftermarket all aluminum air box that was being produced for a few years. Nice craftsmanship on install in a plastic box- the whole thing had to be separated and taken apart to install it. You find these aluminum boxes every now and then at the swap meet. They are just the right ticket for a BAE turbo conversion (and those are rare too!)
Nice motor, enjoy your toy
