82sc no start

Dear Folks:
The fuel pump was not working. No sound, no pressure at the air flow sensor plate lever. Replaced the fuel pump today. No start, no sound of the fuel pump working, no pressure at the air flow sensor plate.
I replaced the ignition switch about two months ago. Is there a connection there that I could have mishandled? Any other ideas why the fuel pump won't work?
Thanks,
Terry

Did you check the fuel pump relay (red)?

Terry,

I looked at my Bentley manual, the yellow wire on your ignition switch should connect to pin 87 on the fuel pump relay.

Checking the fuel pump relay circuit: with ignition off, remove the fuel pump relay (red relay in main fuse panel). With key on, check for battery voltage at terminal 87a and terminal 86 in relay socket.

If battery voltage is not present, fuse number 16. Check for breaks in red wire between relay socket and fuse panel.

That's all I got.

I

Yes, checked the relay. Have two working ones. Both work.
Hey! Looked closely at the fuse panel in the trunk and found that the fuel pump fuse had failed. Crumbled in my hand. Could have been age, or could have been an electrical issue. Replaced, and she LIVES!
Now, I know the pump was faulty, but why did the fuse blow?
I will look at the ignition switch in the morning. Thanks to all for your replies.

Did you disconnect the battery or remove the relay before you replaced the fuel pump? If not, maybe you inadvertently shorted something and blew the fuse. Just a thought.

Congrats on getting your car going.

Naw, everything was disconnected before I started. I think the ham-fisted owner might have connected the wires wrong at the ignition switch. Will check in the morning. Thanks Lou, a running 911 engine makes such a lovely sound.
