Getting oil stains off your driveway.

I know there are a thousand ways to clean oil off your driveway, but I just had to post this new-to-me solution. Normally, I clean-off oil stains by spraying the spots with engine degreaser or carb cleaner. Neither has ever fully removed the stain, but I assumed nothing out there really could... especially older stains. Well... today, I was out of both of these products, so I tried some CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner that I bought from AutoZone for my Tacoma. WOW! It instantly removed new AND old stains with no scrubbing! I couldn't believe it. I'm sure it's not environmentally friendly and it's probably killed a few of my brain cells, but I can't recommend it enough. It's definitely worth trying if you've been stumped by everything else.

I've had good results with Oil Eater, as long as you catch the spill soon.

I've had good luck with spraying it down with WD-40 and dabbing it up with a paper towel. Seems to even get down into rough concrete. surfaces.

Sprinkle dry cement powder over the stain, leave for a couple of days and then simply sweep it up.

I recently used my citrus-based bicycle degreaser on a fairly fresh spot on my garage floor…. worked like a charm. Added bonus is that it's biodegradable so I don't mind watching it run down the street when I hose it down.

I got something of the sort from Lowe's, applied to many spots of many ages on the driveway with a garden sprayer and power washed.

It looked like the spots were coming out(rainbow runoff water) but were still there when it dried.

I'm going to try mineral spirits and kitty litter.

Oil eater and kitty litter. I pour oil eater on the stain and scrub with a push broom, then spread the kitty litter. The kitty litter absorbs the fluid, which seems to break down and evaporate. allowing the kitty litter to be used over & over again.

Oil eater is non-toxic/environmentally safe

regards,
al

Kitty litter, then grind it in with a flat soled pair of boots.

its important to note what you are trying to get the stain off of.

cement driveway or tarmac ( i think you guys call it ashfault or something ) may requre different treatments.

i have amazing results with just tide HE cleaner ( the blue stuff ) . also amazing for just getting hands clean after working on the car
