Idle control valve resistance
Hi guys. Quick question. I have an 86 3.2 and am having some idle hunting after warmed up only. Have replaced the o2 sensor, cant find any vacuum leaks so i am testi g my icv. I have pulled it from the car, it does rattle freely but will clean with carb cleaner anyway and spray with a silicon based libe afterwards(any suggestion on what libe to use).
I decided to bench test for resistance and according to the bently manual i should have 40 between the outer terminals, mine reads 43, is that a problem? Also it says i should get 20 between the center termnial and either outer terminal, i dont get any reading at all, does that mean the icv is shot. Thanks guys. |

Anyone, I have exhausted the search feature on this one. What would cause no reading from center terminal to the outers

Thats great info thanks. Just checked again and i also get 43 outside to outside but nothing inside to either outer terminal. I guess it may need replacement. Did you happen to have yours in or out of the car, cant see how that would make a difference but i think the middle terminal is the one that gets the power.

just connect the power, turn the key on and look to see it is working.

43 to the outside terminals, 23 and 22 outside to center
ICV is in the car but plug is disconnected If you see nothing outside to center then it is likely done for, purchase new from our host or used from Whaletail or Nineapart |

I am having idle problems (different ones but...)
Pardon my ignorance but what is the icv and could it cause a high idle after acceleration?

Possibly the micro switch that engages with the throttle arm at idle is pooched, had that happen last year, resulted in a high idle.
