Planning top end work

I am in the initial planning stages for top end refresh on my 2.2. Oil consumption is just below factory maximum due to exhaust valve guide wear. For those of you who have dealt with machine shops, do you have any recommendations on where to have the work done? I live near Sacramento, CA so if there is a recommended location within a couple hundred miles I can take the heads in myself. I prefer being able to talk to someone at the shop face to face. However, I am not against sending the heads off as long as I get several good reviews of proposed shop(s).

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

I have used German Precision for the machine work on my engines. He is located in Sunnyvale Ca. phone 408.747.0728, ask for Ted. Im sure others will chime in with, some different recomendations as well.
