Thanks!
Well the 993 steering column came in and the splines are the same! ![]() Test fit. ![]() Im had to notch the frame to get the angle correct. ![]() As you can see the angle is just a little off I also had to use the sock steering column bracket as the bolt spacing is different. ![]() First cut Killed a hole saw and 3 drill bits. ![]() Second cut with the plasma cutter. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Now I need to decide how i'm going to mount the rear of the steering column from the top from the fire wall or from the bottom? But I suppose it depends on what pedal box I use.
Something I did not know about the 993 column there is a spline for both the new and old style steering wheels ![]() ![]() More ducting work. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I get to figure out how to A. mount the steering angle sensor or delete the PSM system.

Things can get a little out of hand when I am left unsupervised.
I made a bit of progress this week. The ducking is in place. ![]() ![]() I made a crossmember to go in front of the gas tank. There is one in the 996 as well. ![]() ![]() My gas cap bung came in for my center fill Thanks to Dave at TRE! Now I just have to figure out what box I put the gas cap in. I also ordered a 2" Tri clamp the bung as sitting on a 4-2 reducer and go to a 2" flange into the poly tank. I will be making a sheet metal cover for the gas tank the plan is to cut the hole for the filler neck just to fit the Tri clamp flange so I can remove the 4" filler neck and drop the tank out of the car through a 2 3/8 hole instead of a 4" hole. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The front trunk area is done for now there is a bit more work to be done but for now i'm moving on.
![]() For now I'm going to leave the ducting lids removable. however I have not decided if I want to weld the VIN number panel to the lids or if I want to weld the panel to the cross member. ![]() At some point I need to design a brace that connect the suspension crossmember to the old suspension front mounting points and integrate a tow hook. ![]() I also started on my gas tank cover. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'd love to see you bring this in for a warranty repair. Just point to your vin when they ask you what's going on.

Every car guy knows the legendary internet story about the man who built a Lamborghini in his basement. Are you that guy's cousin?
Look forward to seeing the continued evolution of the car. |

I haven't seen your thread since around page two.
Sure wasn't expecting to see this turn of events. Very creative solutions and craftsmanship at play here. Good luck in bringing it to a good conclusion . You got this! Cheers Richard |

Having made my funny about your vin, you may actually want to swap it out for the sc vin. It will save you some headaches for obd-ii diagnostics on your inspections.

I gotta admit, I'm eating crow on this one. I was one of the doubters when this thread started with the rusted out body. OP clearly has some serious building skills.

Thanks that is the plan it will be backdated and it will be a coupe. It will be something like a 73 RSR on steroids X10.

My Tri clamp came in the other day. Now I just need to wait on my custom flange to come in. before I start fitting the filler neck.
![]() ![]() I also finished my templet of the gas tank cover yesterday. I will hopefully I will start transferring it over to the sheet metal tomorrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well no real progress has been made since I past posted a did make the templet for the gas tank cover. But I have been messing with a few other projects and bought a few more toys. I sold the Rat Rod and bought a car hauler/ tow rig it needs a bit more work than I thought it was getting dark when I picked it up...
So what little progress I had made last month.
