great looking car!!
If it were mine, I'd change the seats... imho they don't harmonize at all with the exterior concept and the wooden steering wheele. some scheel or rs-recaro seats, maybe with green tartan may look amazing.

Love the color! Those wheels do not do that car justice though!

Some don't but, I like the Minilites, I have Australian superlites. You could go back to Fusch and look like every else? I like your car.

I love the minilites. Have them on
the rear of my '66 outlaw too. Yours is a great looking car- I love seeing the unique features that each person adds to their p car. To me, more than half the fun of fixing these is making it special and different.

All those lights in the front probably help the for/aft weight balance, ha ha.

Outlaw911 - I've called TireRack and they always seem to come up with options that are not listed on their website. Give that a try.

Lower front end?
Steering wheel shake and bump steer have been fixed!
But after the car came back from bump steer kit install, I started to notice the cars front end seems to get "floaty" now above 80-90 mph. Yes, I know these cars have significant rear weight bias and deleting the rear wing probably isn't helping- but this is different. Car feels more sketchy at speeds than it did before. I noticed the front end is higher after bump steer install- see updated pic. Do people think lowering the front end would help this issue? Will lowering front bring back bump steer- even with bump steer kit?

Bump steer kit would have changed the toe in. Did you have the alignment done after install? Increasing Castor a bit can improve stability.

Early S front spoiler makes a huge difference in front end lift, but it takes away from the ST look. I have a 69 hotrod with an S front spoiler and the car is very stable at speeds I will not mention here.

I suggest having a tech who really knows these cars drive it and see if they think the alignment is right.
Does the shop that did the install/alignment know early 911s well? If so talk to them and let them drive it, maybe they just missed on the alignment. I dont have personal knowledge on the different front bumpers but it does make sense that the s would help with lift. There are all these custom splitter makers on the market. I wonder if you could get a black splitter to mount under the front. Barely noticeable so it preserves the look and would have similar effect to S bumper.

Uncertifiable!!!

I’ve had the same problem. Did my own alignment using several methods. Not convinced that the car handled as well as my previous 911, I had it professionally corner balanced and aligned using this equipment. Anything else is just a guess IMO.

Update
Update: Car is running great (finally). Bump steer kit installed last year. Rough idle fixed by PerfectPower in Chicago. Advice to people doing fresh builds; #1 if I could go back I would have kept it stock 3.2 (much easier to find people who can service) and performance difference pretty small and #2 I would have gone 15 inch wheels- looks more correct and not that many tire choices at 16x9 either.
Been blasting around the back roads with grin from ear to ear.

Nice. The lessons learned seem sensible. Enjoy.
What did you decide on the "floaty" front end? Alignment? Wing? Something else? |

Been spending too much time on the Porsche configurator building my dream 992 Turbo.
Considering selling my ST Backdate/Outlaw Inspired by R-gruppe in California, the Singer “New York” car, and the early 70’s Porsche ST. Rust free 1987 911 stripped to body shell and re-built by Nick Moss at early911 in UK in 2014-2015. Car was dialed-in stateside by Perfect Power in Chicago. Steel flares (for 16x7 and 16x9 Minilites) Sunroof delete Center fill cap Pre-74 steel bumpers Chrome brightwork Custom 70’s style paint scheme Custom two tone interior 912 door cards Nardi wheel 3.2 to 3.4 with 964 cams MDS twin plug Mass airflow conversion High flow cat Etc Etc Etc I looked online and prices seem to be all over the map. Entertaining serious inquiries. |

If you’re serious about selling, this would be a great car for BAT. https://bringatrailer.com/
