I thought this was a bad idea at first...but now pure awesomeness is eminent.

Just for the record. The wiring isn't that complicated - once you have simplified it. If you have ECU Doctors or someone similar modify the ECU so that it is no longer reliant on the immobilized for GO signal it is almost a self sufficient package between ECU and engine. When we build specBoxsters we eliminate 40lbs of unused wire and what you are left with is a pretty simple harness. There is still a lot going on between ECU and Engine but most of the sensors it relys on are in the engine. I think the only forward connections from there are the instruments the OBII and a couple of speed sensors. Anyone with half a brain and a wiring diagram could figure out what is needed and what is not. Even if you leave the immobilized in place (which we must do for SpecBox) there is only about 6 wires actually required to feed the ECU coming from the immobilizer. It looks daunting but it really isn't. The first time I did it I just unravelled the wiring harness while still connected to everything and started removing things that I knew I wasn't going to need. If you could unplug it and the car still ran then you knew every wire from there to the ECU (or immobilizer) was not required - and on it goes.

Updates on this project? I'd love to see someone finally find a good use for a cheap / crashed Boxster.

I do have a few updates its been slow, I keep buying and selling jeeps and other side projects keep getting in the way along with college and work, However I have made a bit of progress. I have striped the boxster chassis down, removed a few inches and have started fitting the 911 body to the chassis. I have also started on the tube frame front end along with converting to upper wishbone setup. I have made a few prototype upper control arms. I believe I have decided on which one I will be using, I will hopefully start on making a jig for it sometime this week.
These are my approximate measurements. I'm using racing aspirations Suspension Geometry Calculator link http://racingasp.com/undhw9vb ![]() A few pic of the progress. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hey Jarrod, incredibly cool build! Is the stuff I'm sending you going in this?

Wow, 36 degrees of KPI! Let us know how that feels with that -4.6" scrub radius. My guess is it won't want to go straight.
You'll be wearing the outer edges of the front tires pretty badly too, since KPI causes positive camber when you turn, unless you have a lot of caster as well.

Why couldn't the stock Boxster front suspension be used? They seem to work rather well from my experience.

Came across this thread with a similar thought process especially because of the availability of scrap Boxsters around. How'd this end up going?
Trying to find a way to integrate an LS powerplant with subie transaxle and transfer case, maintaining rear engine setup on a 69T. |
