Schroeder valves are just one way valves. If you leave it in, readings will be locked at the highest registered reading. Take them all out...

I have been using the HF kit for 4 years on and off with no issues...

Ok will try that again. With them all out, I got zero pressure on the gauge...

I had a similar problem with the HF gauges. I had to also get rid of the quick disconnect valve(s) on the gauge side of the T-piece and if I remember correctly I ended up connecting the gauge directly to the T-piece.

resurrecting this old thread since i need to test the fuel pressure now. the kit referred to here seems to be the $90 'master test kit' with skus 63727, 97706, 62788, 95319 here:
https://www.harborfreight.com/Master-Fuel-Injection-Pressure-Test-Kit-63727.html

anyone know if the cheaper $25 'fuel injection pump tester' kit with skus 62623, 92699 also works?
https://www.harborfreight.com/Fuel-Injection-Pump-Tester-62623.html

edit: nevermind, i just noticed it states the cheaper $25 kit does not fit bosch or CIS-jetronic. ignore. thanks.

^ You're using it to test CIS Jetronic? Yes, you will need the more expensive kit.

It worked well enough for me. Funny thing is I thought the hoses and connections were the good part of the kit, the gauge itself was the weak point. But as I say, a multimeter and wideband O2 sensor with a test pipe, and you have all you will ever need to fix anything on your motor.

At this time the HF "Master" fuel injection service kit is $300.

Is this the same kit you all got back in the day for <$100?

The Maddox Deluxe kit is still $90 at HF. It does what you need.

The one you posted a link for says it includes
Quote:
Adapters for Honda, Ford, Chrysler, Jeep, & GM, Schrader Fittings for Ford EFI & MPI, Chrysler, Jeep, GM, (36) Specialized Fittings
I'd pass, and not merely because it's $300; it doesn't mention CIS, European - or include brands that used CIS like VW, MBZ etc. Which seems like a red flag...

This seems more suitable - it mentions fittings for "European" and "CIS": MADDOX Deluxe Fuel Injection Service Kit

For $69, I think this is the one I bought from Amazon for CIS way back when: BETOOLL Pro Fuel Injection Pressure Tester Kit Gauge 0-140 PSI

Although I later sold it - and when I needed one again, I bought the digital gauge version the next time.

My experience with these hasn't been very good. I had to ditch all of the quick connect fitting because they either leaked or just didn't work, and the hoses became very stiff after several years. I'm guessing they were not ethanol friendly, and started leaking as the connector crimps became loose on the hose (hose shrunk). I regret not spending a little extra money and getting a good system. It might be ok for one-time use, but I wouldn't expect it to be a long-term investment.
