G50 Gearbox Casting Shape
I've often wondered what the reason for the three lugged casting shape is on a G50 gearbox.
Can anyone explain what it is and why it is there?

I think most 911 gearboxes 901, 915 and G50 had some casting provisions for an oil pump in the gearbox..some gearboxes actually had an oil pump too. Helpful for sustained high speed driving on the Autobahn.

Anyone got a picture of the pump which would attach to this flange?

Not everyone needs or wants a transaxle that handles 1000 HP. There are cost, mass, and spinning mass penalties some don't want to pay.
