About the age of 7 I found a 911 brochure from 1972 in the crawl space my dad had picked up many years ealier ( he opted for a used 1969 XKE that he paid $3500 for). When I was 15 a friends father bought a brand new 911 coupe that was black with red interior (I was hooked). Bought my first car 16 years later (last year) and I'm already considering the next one I would like to own.

A half dozen ears or so ago a friend of mine had a 89 (?) speedster. Man I wanted that thing so bad. I was into my vette at the time, his car sure changed my appetite. If I had know then that a 911 is not really a rich mans car I would have dumped the vette and got into a 911 in a heartbeat.

One thing is for sure, if I sell my current car I will always be sure a 911 is registered in my name at all times. No matter what the value is.

My first ride in one was in 1958 when my father bought a used 356. By the time I could drive, he was on his third one, a 1965 356SC, and I got to borrow it occasionally. I never owned one myself until 1996, when I had a mid-life crisis and decided to start racing Porsches, something I always wanted to do but could never afford. Now, some $80-90K later, I think I'm having fun...

Folks had a 1966 911, black on black, bought new in Europe, and my first ride in it was, well, my first ride ever, coming home from the hospital. Family was into them. Bought my 914 in October, 1992 while in college. Finally finished the transformation into a club racer this year. In February, added a 1973 911T targa to the stable. Now, both are for sale to fund the next race car.

How long? All my life so far, and that will continue going forward!
