Washed car... Now won't start!?!
'87 carrera. Runs great, drive it every day. Drove home, parked in driveway, grabbed a beer, gave it a quick scrub- then when I went to crank it to put it back in the garage, it turns over, but won't catch, not even a little- this has never happened before- I'm guessing water got so where it shouldn't... Help?

Open the engine lid and dry all the water you can see with compressed air and dry rags, especially at the coil and spark plug leads...

It will probably start on its own within a day

Thanks for the replies. I left the deckled propped open all night, and it fired right up this AM. Water got in there somewhere, just couldn't figure out where. I'm guessing distributor cap?.

Pull the cap and examine it. I was having terrible wet-start issues, turned out that there was a 1/4 inch hole blown in the side of the dizzy cap nearest to the engine block (so, hidden away). Obvious problems ensued

What kind of wires do you have? There was a thread a hundred years ago about Clewett wires that were wicking water into the plug ends.
