Can you change oil cooler fittings?

Hi,

I found a front mount oil cooler with 12-an fittings. Can I take it to a rad shop and have them weld 16-an fittings and not be detrimental the the internal oil flow of the cooler?

Thanks for any information.

I've seen different fittings welded on coolers but it depends on the cooler and what the welder has to work with.
