Lightbulb THE Torque Spec List

I hope the Mods can see fit to making this a Sticky?

I don't know about you fellas but I hate it when I need a torque spec and it is like pulling teeth to find it. I use the 1/8" turn all the time but when it comes to critical items like the darn oil pressure fed chain tensioner Banjo Bolt at the Chain Cover. It drives me a CRAZY to no end

So Let me start it off. 2nd page is for the List. I will update as I get verified specs by Pelicans.

Jim

This thread could go on for pages and pages........ Need to categorize it- engine, suspension, transmission, etc.

Shoot me your email and i'll hit you up with a pdf of the '84-'87 tech spec book like this. 135 pages of awesomeness............ Thank the Lord above for modern scanners with document feeders!

Oh Snap, Thank you Brother KTL!

I was thinking just those Mystery Unpublished Fitments or Conflicting Specs published by Haynes or Bentley even superceded specs by PAG.

They are available........

Jim,

I have similar problem like you and couldn't remember the correct spec after a week or two. So what I did was list down all the nuts and bolts torque spec used during an engine rebuild. Saved the data in my computer and a hard copy pasted on my notebook for easy access. All these information are available in the spec booklet, Bentley, and Wayne's 911 engine rebuild book. Even the torque sequences for crankcase, cylinder heads, cam towers, etc.

Last week, I misplaced my notebook and took me a while to remember where I saved the data in my computer. There are always small annoying things that occur in our daily activities. As you get older, you'll be more susceptible to this experience.

A-men Brother Tony!

My wife is telling me I am starting to be a grumpy old man. I told her I've always been grumpy

Funny thing is I wrote it down on a darn post it and placed in the bentley, lost that post it so I wrote it in 3 places. :-o

This is a great idea. I've been a torquing fool lately working on my engine and suspension. Nothing worse than having that vague notion in the back of your mind that there are specs for which the Bentley can't be trusted.

It would be great to specifically note "Bentley says X on page Y -- this is incorrect and should be Z"

I'm wondering if a better approach might be to create a spreadsheet that is publicly editable? Like something on Google Docs?

Then people could add different tabs for different categories and year models. You might want to put some thought into the initial structure and organization. Maybe you could start with what Tony has and add to it.

The above book covers '87 models. Not much changed in '88 & '89 in terms of general specifications for the 911 3.2. 930 finally got the G50/50 trans in '89

I would assume there's a spec book out there somewhere that covers the '88 and '89 models. I just happen to have the book that was issued around '86-'87 that includes only up to '87. I thought I had the next volume that includes '88 but I can't find it and i'm not cutting it up to scan it anyway!

Do you have a specific need or in general torque spec? I am sure there are members with the PAG spec book out there???
