I'm overwhelmed with the positive responses, the great advice and just general Porsche/car enthusiast camaraderie. The coincidences, in a positive direction, have also been insane!
So, I just spoke with Scott on the on phone last night, never spoken to him before, and it was a treat. Super supportive, mellow, cool guy just looking to give great advice. And now Dave "flynn-hawn", who lives 5 minutes from me, is mentioning moving to Oregon. Dave, lets share a trailer! How did we never talk about this before? Oh yeah, I just thought it all up last weekend.
All I can say, besides thank you, is "EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!"

My wife and I are both CA natives. Me from the Bay Area and she's from Orange County. One of the first things that we noticed is that in general people are much more friendly and open here. Neighbors introduced themselves pretty much straight away, public encounters, etc. Clubs and groups (especially Porsche!) are very welcoming. There is an annual block party on our street. A couple of years after moving here , my wife organized a roving happy hour on the first Friday of every month with neighbors hosting. We've hosted several times and we always get a great turn out.
Overall a greater sense of community than we found in CA.

That's exactly the kind of input I was looking for! Thanks Charles for sharing. At this stage of our lives that's the setting we have been missing these last few years. With semi-retirement looming, the stars seem to be lining up!

Funny, that's exactly that I said. Are you an actual person with a similar story or a creepy web-bot?

So, the late September house hunt trip went better than expected. Bought a home on Mercer Lake, 5 minutes outside of Florence. Moving early December. Thanks again for all of the pervious support and advice, it all helped.

Extra thanks goes out to Mark Young at MFI Werks, in Seal Rock. He took time out of his busy day to show me around his fabulous shop. That is one Porsche porn filled shop! Thanks so much Mark!

Now just gotta figure out how to get 2 Porsches and 2 old Toyota trucks up there! Not such a bad dilemma to have in life, I guess.

So....are those JBL L100's on the wall? Sorry to take this OT, on the other hand my wife's company was headquartered in Seattle so she used to travel there a lot. Says its stunningly beautiful but yes, a bit rainy. Plan to get up there some day.

I moved to Hawaii in 1978 from Oregon. The "Best of both worlds" would be to live Hawaii Sept. threw May and summers on the Oregon coast.
Oh and have at least one Porsche in both places!

We have good friends with a RBO in Maui if you're interested. Nice little condo with a well appointed kitchen. Ground floor, right on the water in Lahaina.
Alaska Air flies direct from Portland to Maui....

They are JBL 4311's less the LE5 mid range speakers. We added a little low end to the system. 18" JBL subs X 4.

Pete, you'll need to drive one of the Porsches to the Scandinavian Festival in Junction City next Summer. I think Swedish Day is normally on Thursday.

All over that!! Thanks for the info

First legit order of business will be expanding the standard 2 car garage to a twice deep, 4 car, raising the roof on one side to accommodate a 2 post lift. Hope they can work through the rain!

Pete, construction goes on here year round. Not like Cali. No excuse not to work up here just because it's raining. You don't feel bad working on Porsche's in the garage either when it's pouring outside. The un crowded roads are like no where else!

Scott is mostly correct. Today was a rain day for us. Simply too wet to be productive we have trusses coming Monday and we are ready for them so the day off wasn't too much of a biggie.

Just retired last month. Following a dream I've had for a long time. I'm drifting south along the Colorado River for the next 3 months to end up in San Diego where I lived after the Navy. Will start back to Oregon about the middle of April.

This is my travel combination, little sail boat and golf clubs.

And my toys home in the garage.

Thanks for the updates guys, I appreciate it.
We have now spent the first 2 weeks in our new home in Florence. Seems not long ago since I started the process. And I guess it really wasn't, about 8 months. Thank you all for the advice, tips and encouragement.

We had some good luck when the old cars arrived in Eugene, (saved me some $ to fetch them there). Blue skies, great drive out to the coast in them. Wife piloted the 912 and said she loved it. She was all smiles pulling up in town for the first time. Funny, she hates the 911! Fine with me.
She's irritated with me right now anyways because i've got the garage pretty sorted, for now, but the rest of the house is still in boxes. Whatever

Scott, Timmy, Mark Y, Charles F, Arne, Kent, John and the rest of you Oregon Porsche enthusiasts - hope to see you all very soon.
