Oil level sender - looking for a core

Mine finally developed Alzheimer's where the needle jumps helplessly between fully pegged and empty. When I took it out it quickly became clear that the wiper had worn through the wire-wound resistor right where it spends a lot of time (at the empty mark during warm-up)

I temporarily fixed it by patching the resistive wire but know that it won't last. About one third of that resistor track is worn rather thin. But I don't feel like shelling out $$$ for an OEM Porsche unit or buy URO crap.

Does anyone have another broken oil level sender floating around? I want to take it apart, and characterize the resistive wire in an attempt to be able to rebuild those. Once I know the wire diameter, resistance and total length I might be able to find said wire and I think I could rewind the little PCB and make it work like new:

If I'm successful I'd repair mine and yours and return yours. It's a project for a rainy day (not that many lately) so be patient. Let me know.

Thanks,
Ingo

If the above doesn't workout I think my old one is still floating around.
