Needed to mount the fender for cutting and buffing. Through the door on too, just to get a look at it. Really getting excited. Plan is to keep it on the rotisserie until the suspension parts and oil lines are run. The paint the wheels (RSR-sih) and turn it into a roller.

Thanks Shaun. I think I am going to need a few more things plated I can't bring myself to attach anything to this car that doesn't look new.

Cool. I've got your shift tower, handbrake, etc. still. Everything is stripped, plated, polished, etc. except I have to Cerakote the black parts.
Did I do your front hubs? If not, send them up. ![]() ![]()

Shaun,
What about the trailing arms? Should I just crate them up and send them too. I sorta need a quick turn-around.

That hub looks great! How did you finish it?

Tumbled with black phosphate studs Kevin. Here's what Trent's trailing arms will look like when done. The benefit to tumbling is it micropeens the surface to resist oxidation.

So Shaun has the trailing arms and hubs at his shop despite some shenanigans by Greyhound. I am in my backyard diving into oil restoration. I am soon going to find out if the PO's decision to undercoat the car is a god or bad thing. It may have offered some protection to the brass lines, but right now it is major PIA to get this hardened gunk off the lines and especially the threaded connections. I expect heat will be required to get everything apart.

Try angle grinder w wire wheel before heat. The heat will make it get more gunky. GL.

Took my oil tank to radiator shop and had it hot tanked and checked for leaks. Came back completely clean and stripped in side and out well worth the money.

^^^ Did something similar with a rusty early gas tank. Took it to a semi-truck oil cooler and radiator repair shop. They dipped it and expoxied the inside, roughly painted the outside for protection. $200 6 years ago.

Looks like an undercoating gasoline will soften, I'd buy one of the big plastic bins at Home Depot and throw it in for a few days of soaking in low test.
You and your body guy did an excellent job, looks beautiful.

OK, I hope I don't jinx myself, but I have all but two connections apart - one on the thermostat and the one on the tank. I was getting a bit frustrated, so I am walking away for a while and letting the chemicals work on the connections for a bit. No heat used (yet) - just two big 'effin pipe wrenches.

So I DID jinx myself. This last line between the thermostat and tank is NOT budging, on either end. SO I guess we add some heat. I took some time to hand sand the oil lines using 120 paper and some 240 grit sponges. I really like the look of the naked brass oil lines. I am gong to finish sanding these and clear them with a high temp semi-gloss or satin clear. Not going to run rocker covers, so they need to be pretty. : )

I should have done that to my lines before I installed them. Looks good.
