Early Fuchs 6x15 - How much should I pay?

Thinking about buying one to replace my cookie cutter spare. Nice condition - no curb rash. Thanks for your advice!

Hey Jim,

I just bought a pair to complete my set, and paid about $140 each. However, they need some refinishing. I had a hard time finding the deep 6's. If you find a good set cheap, jump on them make sure they have the 901 part number if you want deep sixes.

Can't wait ot see the 'E'

Justin

Jim I have been keeping my eyes out for a set as of late, not in a huge hurry, seems the market is in the 125-200 per wheel in very good shape. Jan from Richmond conveyed that you can do a bit better in Hershey, along the 400 for a set that needs a little elbow grease, but are straight. I plan on waiting til the spring unless a good deal falls in my lap...I honestly don't care about my spare, so I have a good old steel wheel, if I run along a set of 5 I'll be willing to sel one to ya.

Jim? Maybe keep the cookie cutter spare? IF you put it on a scales, you'd discover that it's a wee bit lighter than a 6" fuchs...

Paul, I never thought of it from that angle. Cool!

Thanks guys for the feedback. I exchanged emails with a person that has one to sell me but I think his price is too high. Perhaps that'll change. If not, I'll keep the "lighter than Fuchs" cookie cutter at least until the Hershey swap meet.

Why not? The cookie cutter is lighter, and as long as it's only a spare, and the diameter is close to the tires you normally run, it'll work. I know a 356 hot rodder type who even found an old 4.5" fuchs, had a VW type collapsable spare mounted on it. Gave him more trunk space, plus lighter than the 6" fuchs he runs on his '65 356SC. Also, lots of guys here have drooled over pics of Tom Wilkinson's R Gruppe '73? In the trunk? A cookie cutter spare wheel...hell, I considered it cool....along with the rest of the car!

I sold a set of early 6x15's in excellent condition w/old hard 032's for $700 last year. The tires were shot.

Seems the typical going price for the 7&9 x 16's is $1200 when you can find them and they do come up. I've seen $1200 asking price just for the 9x16's. Parts Heaven was selling new ones for $1500 p/pair earlier this year

I have two sets of early 15x6 fuchs that may soon be for sale. One set came on my '72 and they're in pretty nice shape. The other set I bought for track use. They're definitely in need of refinishing.

If anyone is looking for a set, I'd take $400 for the second set (ones that need refinishing).

Josh any pics of the wheels? Also the part numbers, and finally, how much for the nicer wheels. I know of a fully poished set in GA for 500, but are not annodized, just shiny polished.
thanks
