As I am now faced with prepping the car as best I can to insure that another terminal failure does not result, what are the best cleanup methods for getting metal debris out of the solid lines and oil reservoir. I have heard suggestions ranging from soapy water and the garden hose to taking to a radiator shop and getting steam/air pressure run through the parts. I'd like to know how this cleanup is done best.
Thanks! John ------------------ '78 911 SC 3.0 |

Searched the archives again and couldn't find any cleaning tips -- yet I am sure someone has had to deal with cleaning things up after a terminal engine failure...

I haven't had a "terminal engine failure", but you'd surely want to remove the hard oil lines and trombone cooler, and thoroughly steam clean them. The engine-mounted oil cooler needs the same treatment, and some even recommend replacing it, as it's hard to totally clean out.
