Sorry about that.....Here is the leather. Apulstery shop could not believe I only paid $160 for a full 50 sq ft thick skinned cow. I showed them the seats when I first got them then i took in the old covers and a lot of photos
After I finished the fiberglass. Also took them all new plastic inserts and foam cushions from the Sparco down in Irvine. They will be ready in about a week.

Nomex shell above (GTS Classic Seats), unknown material below (Sparco?).

Guesses anyone?

Kevlar?

Must be a different cloth blend than what's used today.

EDIT: Yep Kevlar, old school.

Recovered 84, 944 sport searts, in Dad's 74 coupe.

Here is a shot, (bad phone pic, sorry) of a set of 84, 944 sport seats i had recovered in Perforated, German, "Champaign" leather, by Bud at Classic Nine. He recommended using a french seam, to make the seats a bit more user friendly, (apparently, if the welt cracks on a sport sear bolster, it can pinch on entry, or exit).

Used seats: $950
Leather and labor to make covers: $1700
Local talent to install covers: 300.

Very Comfy and not difficult to get in and out.
Bud was great to deal with, I'd do it again.

I put a black vinyl and corduroy Scheel seat in my flared 914 hot rod, after having a local upholstery shop cut vinyl clad holes in the sides for 3 inch harness and one in the bottom for a pair of 2 inch subs.

A potentially helpful bit of advice: have a drive in a similarly equipped car to see if "those" seats fit your torso, are reasonable for your intended use and comfortable, before you plumk down some serious change.

I had these made for my 75. Hope to get them installed in February, after I get it out of major rust repair and body work. Took the original 1975 seats, and had them remade into some low back sport seats.

On the other end of the spectrum, ya can't beat the Recaro C-Classic! Heavy and cumbersome. But, so comfortable. Cancan Red can't be beat. :-)

My standard to sport seat conversion in hannibal grey, done at Classic 9 Leather Shop

Quality inspector confirming leather is nice and cozy. Not pictured: imminent demands to beep beep beep the horn.
