H4 conversion

I'm fitting some h4s that I purchased from a fellow Pelicaner on my SC. The chrome rings seem to fit the hole nicely, except that when I line up the screw and tighten it up, the chrome ring shifts up and the top tips out toward the front. I'm hesitant to start messing with the tab that the screw goes into, I don't want to break it off. Is this my only recourse?

The screw looks a bit high in your foto. Do you have a foto of your bucket?

Not really a good picture but you can see that the chrome ring sits lower

The other assemble fits perfectly, I'm going to have to have a chat with the guy who sold this to me - the chrome ring is dented just enough to make for a misfit.

Did that side get in an accident, if so it will never fit perfectly. I spent hours trying to get mine to fit right, nada, but if its a bent ring, then a new one should fix. What's interesting is that it looks like its not even close. The tab can be bent, but don't blame me if you break it.

Swap the around to see if it's your headlight or bucket.

Based on your photo the sealing gasket is no good. It should be one piece. Try starting the screw a little, then hook the top. Next apply pressure to the sides until you hear/feel it snap on. Do not over tighten the screw or it can pull off the top. The key really is getting the assembly to snap on. This is advice I got from other Pelicans when I was having issues and it does work but takes some patience and maybe multiple attempts. Good luck!

The seller's car was damaged on the other corner, but it looks like the bumper may have been pushed up just enough to deform the ring. I had to rebuild the other unit, with a new ring, and I had no trouble getting it on. He has been contacted.
