Help with oil level gauge

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=29pnrG_v6wM

As you can see in the video my oil level is pegged. After searching the threads - I bought a new sending unit...

Well it's not the sending unit. I even reversed the wires thinking they could have been reversed.

What else can it be? The gauge pins on max as soon as I turn the key.

Check to make sure the ground on the Sending unit is connected and also check behind the gauge to insure the contacts are clean and solid.

I did what Darco recommended, but it was still reading max once key was turned on...even before the engine was running.
The solution was to replace the oil sending unit inside the oil tank. Found a good used one here on PP and the gauge now reads properly.

Sending unit for me too. Check all the wiring and grounds first, and if no go change the sender.

How does the sending unit work?

Maybe that will help me understand how to diagnose issue ...both wires seem to have no power . Should one be powered?

Only when car is in the ON position and properly grounded.

Pegged up mean no ground.

Good news - not the gauge!

I changed the sending unit - still no good. I checked ground - ground good. I checked positive line - no continuity.

I ran a direct wire around car as suggested and gauge works.

So somewhere between the gauge and oil tank there is a break in the line...
