Wrap or paint ????
Trying to decide to wrap my car or paint. 3000.00 to wrap and 7000.00 to paint. Getting a discount on paint job from a friend who has been painting Porsches for 30 years. 1984 widebody slantnose. Car is black now. original color. Please post pictures of your wrap 911. Would you do it all over again? Pros and Cons. I was thinking of a Martini team Graphic look. Maybe for a couple of years.

I'm biased and will say paint. Save the wraps for Nissan, Honda, and other imports. Cheapens the car in my opinion.

I think I would only wrap for two reasons:
Some really wild color or individual pieces (hood only). A guy on here wrapped an entire car in electric green. Turned out pretty awesome.

I am not a big fan of the wrap movement, especially from a buyer perspective. My very close friend wrapped his car to save the money and it was a neat idea, until he went to sell the car. I would suggest paying the money for paint, unless you want to try a new color for a while and then go back to black later. I think the wrap is a waste of money and the car will eventually need painted by someone, whether its you, or the next owner. However, I have seen some amazing wrap jobs on some pretty neat cars. Best of luck in your decision.

Faced with my situation, (texting girl hit my 911) I'm considering wrapping.... might even try it myself, looks like premium 3M contura breathable wrap would be less than $500 in materials.

I'm in the same situation Paint or Wrap. My two sons want to wrap the car but I'm not so sure. I live in Simsbury, CT. So if Mattthepainter is interested I would like to talk to him.

If the paint is good and you're looking for a change then go ahead and wrap it. I have wrapped a bunch of work cars. It's really durable and properly installed it looks great. It'll keep nice paint underneath looking great. However if the paint is crap now then I say paint it. You'll need to do it sooner or later....

Before you do it, read the thread of the guy that wrapped his in green. He ruined a couple pieces trying to get it to work. $500 is a dream. Also the amount of work is way more than you think.
oh found the Link

I would never try and do this myself. It would be done by a professional....

I agree that a new paint job would be better than a wrap but the younger people seem to like the muted look. MattThePainter can you contact me?

Last year at SEMA, I saw several wrapped car that look awesome.
I think it depends on the installer and the color. - a matte finish for example would be nice on ,y black GT3 - no waxing, dusting, finger prints.....

If you're not going to paint, then I suggest Plastidip. You can do it yourself for about 1/10th the price of a wrap and, unlike wrap, any minor repairs don't require the entire panel to be redone. I'm sure many purists here will disagree, even the ones who have no experience with Plastidip.
