That type is sad and comes from neglect. The one that is good is one you get from endless road trips and driving it everywhere all the time. At least, that's what mine is slowly getting.

In other words, all it takes is time (OK, and neglect.) But, as we all know, time is money, and this one was achieved with money, so it's totally legit

I'm seriously considering it. Worn race numbers had been part of the original plan, but I thought it might be a little over the top. What do you guys think?

I tried to show and explain this project to my wife without laughing but failed.

It is cool in it's own way, not everyone's cup of tea.

Reminds me of those $400 jeans with fake mud on them or pre-worn looking new sneakers.

Rich people slumming it.

Do the wheels need to be aged to match? Love the rusty patina, but the wheels kind of betray the neglected look. Just a thought, but there is no rule an old car can't get new shoes. The wrap is very cool.

I think it looks sweet. Perfect way to have fun with it.

One question though. If it was a track car in a former life, I imagine the front is pretty sandblasted. Any issues getting vinyl wrap to stick to paint with lots of chips in it? No bubbling or anything like that?

Asking because my car has led a similar life and has chips all over the front bumper, front edge of hood, mirrors, front valance but the rest of the original paint is in good shape so I figured a partial wrap would be a good way to have fun with it like you have done.

As long as its clean and prepped properly it sticks fine. The only issue was the fiberglass front valance, it had a textured coating (bed liner) It wouldn't stick to it. I have since removed the front oil cooler and replaced the original valence.
