Solid state DME Relay conversion ?

IIRC, someone is now making a new style of DME relay for the 944 models.

Is anyone familiar with this ? It also seems to me that aside from the fact that it has blade connectors, it would be otherwise compatible with the 911 harness.

Has anyone converted ? Is it even possible ? I know at least one of you knows the answer to this.

Are you referring to Joe Baumbach's Focus 9 Technology? I bought one of his DME relay with the fuel pump primer for my 1988 911 and am very pleased. Have been running it in my auto for 7 weeks now, so far so good.

How did you convert the pins ?

You are welcome.

wow this seems like a great thing. I love the fuel prime

Help my ignorance - what is the benefit of the pump prime? The fact that fuel pressure is already built up in the system when cranking ensues?

Edit - after going onto his site and reading, that is the biggest benefit which results in quicker starting.

I never had a problem with my DME relay, but now I seem to have experienced two failures in as many months. This seems to be a heavy duty unit that was specifically designed to be bullet proof under heavy draw. It seems like a reliability upgrade to me.

Wow! that does appears to be a nice up grade. Right up there with the head light relay kit.
I have yet to have a problem with my DME rely however, I did purchase one one a few yrs. ago from our host. After reading about failure issues here in the forum.
I hope this guy restocks soon.

Bagged one here: Porsche DME Fuel Pump Relay Solid State 911 3 2L Carrera 1984 1989 | eBay

DanielDudley 09-18-2016 03:02 PM

So I got mine, and installed it Saturday. It has the pre prime option, and I LOVE that. You can actually hear the fuel pump running, and this is a great thing, IMO. Very reassuring. Confirms the DME relay and the fuel pump are working every time you start the car.

It comes in a static free bag, and you have to ground yourself to the car before you install it, but I am super happy with this product.
