Does any of you know this car? - DP935 - Tampa, NY, metro DC

Hello folks,

While restoring my car, I'm trying to trace its history.
To explain a bit, I'm french and I bought the car to a dealer that had no clue of its history, however it looked interesting to my eyes.

It's as you can see a DP935 that I believe is a real one (after exchanging with Zimmermann's son).

It has most of the goodies a DP935 can have for a US version.

Question is, does any of you know this car or has ever seen it?

From carfax data, the car spent the most part of its life around metro DC area, having records in Gaithersburg, Rockville, Oxon hill, Arlington, Temple hills...

Car has been as well in New York and Tampa.

Any hint would be welcome.

Google Fred Opert I believe he was the US importer for Dp in America. He may have some insight as to its history.

Thanks guys, those are very valuable information.

Unfortunately Fred Opert passed away last summer R.I.P.
However, rom Carfax, the car has entered USA through New York custom and considering that he was operating from New Jersey, It could be very possible that he imported the car.
Does anybody know if someone took over his business and could find records?

I'll definitely hang on Dorkiphus forum as well.

OMFG!!!!! I think I know this car. I was in Arlington, VA in the winter of 1987 and this car was owned by someone that worked at the building next to my apartment in Annandale, a neighboring town. Please post a picture of the front lights. The corner markers were off a BMW motorcycle and the headlights were down below the bumper line. I'll do my best to find the pictures of me in that car. It might not be it, but what a hoot if it was.

Sorry, I don't have any good picture of the front:

But it has regular US bumper with a copy of DP spoiler.

However, it could be the same car as this is not a factory DP bumper and has then most probably been changed.

I look forward to see the picture you have!

Not the car I was thinking. I like it, but not the one I fondled as a teenager. Enjoy it. It looks like a great time.

Will still go look for the pictures.

Douglas, I know and bought the car that you are thinking about.. It was a Euro Targa that was done by DP, and yes, the front turn signal lights were mounted on the contour of the front fender and were from a BMW motorcycle.

I assume you lived on Rt 7 also known as king street? The owners name was Milton and he owned a little European repair shop on Wilson Blvd in Rosslyn. A friend of his wrecked the car which cracked the front fenders and tore the spoiler off. We repaired it and enjoyed it for several years. Funny to hear that someone else know/remembers that car!!

Cheers..

Unfortunately never seen this car around the area.. would have definitely remembered it. However, it does have all the right pieces that would identify it as a real DP or Kramer car..
-Center console
-Front spoiler & Extended Tail
-Rear vents on back-side of 1/4
-1/4 panel/extensions cut high at tail light height

Nice car, have fun with it.

Thanks guys,
Looking a bit more in details the Carfax, although the car was in metro DC area from 1995 to 2015, it covered a maximum of 2000 miles so not that much out to be spotted...

Thanks, but for the "sweet deal" future will tell after I complete the restoration.
Few things have been neglected and few have been adressed an amateur way...
I wasn't really found of te style at the beginning but the more I learn about it, the more I like it.

Does any of you know this car? - DP935 - Tampa, NY, metro DC

I'm re-focusing a bit my research in the two other area where the car has been titled as per Carfax record:
Tampa, the car stayed some time there during the early 90'.
New York, it was titled there from its importation in 1987 up to 1992.

Is the car Guards Red or Peru Red?
If Peru Red, I know the car - almost bought it in 2008.

Not sure what red is the car, but I believe it wasn't running in 2008.

Some more distinctive details, IC and dash:

Does any of you know this car? - DP935 - Tampa bay area

Still looking, anyone know this car?
The combination is quite unique I think, US body kit, big Intercooler and red dials...
Should have been in Tampa area in the late 80's, early 90's...

If it was in Tampa in the early 90's I'm pretty sure Dave White would have worked on it. He is now retired but his son is still in the business. Love the car. Good luck.
