a/c bracket delete engine tin cover plate

My ac compressor and support bracket are out of the car, and will be out for a while, so I'd like to cover the gap in the tin where the bracket poked through.

Searched this but only found home made plates.

Anyone know of a source for a ready made plate that will attach using the stock screw holes?

I couldn't find one so I made my own. It is pretty easy to make your own out of sheet aluminum or steel...using snips.

According to the 86 and 89 PET illustration 105-10, item 10, there are about 8 PN's given, one of which was superseded to a new number.
They may be NLA or expensive, and I had a hard time getting a good image so I could tell if they have or don't have the cut out for the ac bracket.
here are the numbers - personally I just have metal tape there.

Don't know of any commercially available product you can buy, pretty limited application. Try to locate a rear tin piece for a non-AC application and trim a section to fit. That's what I did, it worked like a charm. Crappy picture attached.

Thanks for the replies!
I like the metal tape, hadn't thought of that. I think I even have some...if I can find it!

it was cheap and quick, really meant to be temporary, more of an air dam to ensure the air came in thru the deck lid. It's held up ok adhesive-wise, but I threw a pebble or something because it developed a 1/4 inch puncture ha ha. someday I will get some real tin in there, spray it black or something.

SC, I agree, but until I get time to make one as nice as SpyderMike's I'll go with the tape. Anyway, according to a reliable source (the guy who happened to have some metal tape I could steal)-it's german!

I just made a template out of the back of a pad of paper (the kind the real estate people leave all the time on my doorstep). It took maybe 30 minute most to cut and shape once the template was proven. There is a tab under the tin on the right hand side to help hold it flush.

Needed to do this

I removed the AC bracket about 9 months ago and didn't bother to put a plate in to fill the gap which resulted in noticeable dirt buildup in the area on the engine case. So.....*
